We visited both schools.Putting cost aside for the moment, which program should he accept for his BFA Acting degree?

PACE is very well known for their theater programs. I don’t know much about UConn. I think a look at this site will give you a good idea of the better theater programs.

One of my D’s close friends from high school went to the BFA program for acting at UConn. He loved the program (my D was in the drama club with him and kept in touch). He liked it because it was fairly small and he had many opportunities to perform, including performing with the Connecticut Rep Theater. This friend also got an agent as a result of a showcase opportunity at UConn. I believe he left UConn with some equity points as well.

So nice to have a choice. UCONN is a great school. Remember some kids want a more well rounded education as opposed to a conservatory style. Don’t only think “well known”. A school like UCONN has a ton of financial resources. I’m sure it is an excellent program. Most important thing, find a place where your son is happy. Does he want to get involved in fraternity life, watch basketball games, have friends that aren’t in acting program. There are many successful actors that did those things in college. Does he want to live in the city and hang out with mostly his fellow acting students. Also look at cost. If you live in Connecticut the price may be right. There aren’t necessary paying jobs after graduation. So little or no debt may be a factor. There are excellent acting programs in so, so many colleges and universities in the US. even if they don’t make it on to some list. If you pay less during the year, study abroad options in summer may be an option. Two vey different style schools to choose from, both excellent. Good luck!

ty. UCONN!
