anyone have or know of personal experiences at these schools UConn or UMass? I undestand these are two very different schools. If anyone has input on either one, please reply!!!

uconn is stronger academically, and has the best basketball teams in the country. what else could you want!

we've recently visited both..depends on what you are looking for in a school. If its business, you want UMass. Many other programs it'll be U Conn.UConn's facilities are more up to date, lots of new construction and a very nice campus overall. But the locale leaves alot to be desired. There's a reason drinking in parking lots on weekend nights is such a big activitiy.Sports are of course more of a draw at UConn(basketball) but S is attracted by the Hockey East possibilities at UMass..
The Honor's College at UMass is much more evolved than at UConn.Surrounding towns at UMass are great..there's massive # of places to eat, movie theaters, culture if you want it,big box store shopping, funky store/coffee shop places and there's more transportation options.I'd venture to say the crowd's about the same.U Mass being surrounded by 4 LAC's makes for a diverse crowd in the towns.
S is looking for a Sports Management program and UMass was recommended to him as #1. He liked both schools equally but was disappointed (to put it mildly) in UConn's surrounding area.
We left UConn wishing it was surrounded by a college town like so many state U's are (like Penn State,Indiana,U Mich)
