UConn vs. UNH

Looking for any help comparing these two colleges. I.E. Which is better, which is recommended, etc. Any info or analysis is welcome. I visited UConn and was very impressed. I haven't visited UNH yet, but from what I have read it sounds pretty nice. Anyways, my SAT was 1890/2400 (1240/1600) and my weighted GPA is 4.3/4.5. Unwieghted is 3.7.

Yes, I realize this isn't "Michigan vs. Stanford," "Harvard vs. Yale" or some other "Big Name vs. Big Name" but the truth is that I'm probably going to end up at one of these two colleges (I'm planning on majoring in Sports Management, if anyone cares) and I'd appreciate anyone's input. Thanks.

UConn is much better then UNH. Youll likely get into their awesome honors program. From what i've heard (i originally planned on majoring in SM too) UConn has a GREAT SM program. You were there, how nice were the facilities there? Frickin gorgeous.

basically uconn is the best public in new england, and UNH is one of the worst. you will get a phenomenal education at uconn. most likely wont get into honors at uconn though (need around a 1400 and around top 10% ranking these days)

unh as in new hampshire or new haven?

Jeez. Didnt realize it was THAT hard. Now THAT's crazy.

Thanks for all the input. Yeah, I realize that I wont get into the Honors Program at UConn, but I'm not bothered by that at all. I'm just concernced with getting in. I mean, yeah I am in the top 10% of my class (25/432), but I don't have the SAT's. Oh well. Not that big of a deal to me.

By the way, by UNH I meant University of New Hampshire.

Will the folks who knocked U of New Hampshire please provide some facts or anecdotes to justify their criticism?

I understand that U of New Hampshire has high quality undergraduate programs. As for graduate school, the Biology/Zoology department at UNH is great. For a long time I have wanted people who drone on with "UConn is the best public school in New England" to back it up with facts.

Ummm....It's called the best public school in New England. Everyone knows it's true. You'd be naive to think otherwise. I didnt exactly knock UNH, but it's FAR from UConn.

JPod,

Do you really want to base your own opinion on the statement "everyone knows it's true?" Not much objective deduction there.

I base my opinion from visiting UConn, statistics like the above, and general public perception. No one is exactly roaring to go to UNH.
Oh, and it's jPoD ;)

You're definitely capable of going to better schools... i'd like to get that out in the open right now. Push for something like Fairfield University... or Fordham. But anyway... if you have to choose between those two... UConn, of course, is one of the best.

You lost me with "...and general public perception," which reminds me of a well known canard in the courtrooms of New York; "you can indict a ham sandwich in the Bronx."

LOL

I'll ask my mom about that, since she's a lawyer from Brooklyn....

It is no canard my man, it is verity.

lol, fairfield is not better than UConn. Fairfield U. students are upset at how much of a powerhouse uconn is becoming. Their statistics have been falling, because now the better students are opting for UConn.
Business...UConn blows Fairfield U. away
Science...just go to UConn and see why they are better
Engineering...UConn of course
Liberal Arts...Fairfield U. def. wins that one

I think Fordham is right on UConn's level. Both are equivalent overall.
