***UCR CLASS OF 2022 APPLICANT/DECISION THREAD***

@california2018 Yes, and only UCR and UCI campuses have rolling systems. Other UCs will come out all at once.

@california2018 @orionary so if we’re still considered, does it mean rejection/waitlist or is there still acceptances?

@theremitt2018 There are still acceptances rolling out. The “computer” “randomly” disperse a mixture of acceptances/rejections/waitlists to applicants at any given time. They are not like CPSLO that gives acceptances first, waitlist second, and rejections last. You should have your decision very very soon by now.

As I can tell, the ones who have been admitted so far are regents, chancellor’s or invited to apply for the honor’s program. Majority of the decisions have not come out yet.

@orionary Well actually Merced is also rolling admissions. Because not that my son wants to go there but he received his acceptance letter which so far is the only UC acceptance letter he’s received since he was waitlisted from Santa Cruz, but I have also seen a few people say they have not yet heard from Merced with any kind of decision.

@Bean981 I have been accepted already (I received the admission notification email around March 1). Thanks for the information!

@qwertty Same boat. Accepted at Merced, waitlisted UCSC and waiting on Riverside and Irvine. @myfavoritepet did you receive the email about acceptance first or was the portal updated first?

@marcovan My son is in the same situation as you. His main thought is to attend one of the universities on the East Coast that admitted him because since 10th grade he always wanted to go to school on the East Coast. But there are a few UC campuses out here that he would’ve considered staying in California for the first one being UC Santa Cruz. So he is upset that he was waitlisted for it. He also was admitted into UC Merced but he has no desire to go there and we agree that for him it would not be a good fit at all. And he is still waiting to hear from UC Riverside He actually did apply to UC Santa Barbara just because we told him what the heck why not… We don’t know whether he looked and was denied or if he actually has not even looked yet and those notifications came out yesterday. Realistically he really did not have any type of a chance to get into that one.

I’m reading some of the comments that say some of you received emails first. Was that to let you know that a decision had been made or were those emails pertaining to financial aid? We are not in the situation where we need to apply for financial aid so if those are the only emails that are coming out I guess my son would not be receiving any. However he is not inclined to check his personal emails on a regular basis… So if an acceptance email is sent before it shows up in the portal I will try to urge him to check his emails today.

Accepted (a few weeks ago actually)

Is anyone in the Los Angeles area and thinking of commuting to ucr? If so, how bad of an idea is it? I’m thinking of commuting, but I’m still not sure…

I’ve looked into UCR’s vanpool program but the closest is Pasadena to ucr.

@blueem I’m not sure why you are not interested in living in the dorms unless which is totally OK you still want to live at home by choice. Or you need to. But I will tell you however, that when you live in the dorms at any university it gives you a totally different feeling of the University and makes you feel involved more. Back when I was applying for college in the 1980s… I got into both UCLA and Cal State Northridge those were the two universities I wanted to go to. And even though I had always been a Bruin girl in my heart, I was not picked for the housing lottery there though I was admitted into the university and I wanted the experience of living in the dorms. So even though I lived in Sherman Oaks only 20 minutes away from Cal State Northridge, I chose to go there instead of UCLA because I want to have that experience of living in the dorms. I’m sure you will make the right decision for you. Good luck and congrats. My son is still waiting to hear.

Who’s going to Highlander Day?

Only if admitted and I fb messenger them and asked are you sending acceptances before that date and they stated they should be done by the 30th so we shall see.

got in today!
I’m a transfer student with a 2.9 GPA admitted for soc!
