@Andreq what is your son’s stats? Same boat here with my son - accepted from Merced, waitlisted from UCSC, denied from UCSB. We are crossing our fingers with UCR and it looks like UCI is a stretch.
@Yetta2018 Well my son did not even apply to UC Irvine as his consultant said it was so much out of reach for him that it would’ve been a total waste. My son has some issues so as a result, his academics are not strong. I think his GPA is a 3.2 and all I’ll say is his ACT each time he took it ( 3 times) he kept getting the exact same very low score. Let’s just say it was under 24 but I won’t say how under it was.
Yeah… I applied for political science and still haven’t gotten a decision yet. I am extremely scared because I have been rejected by all the UC’s so far, except for Merced. Is it possible for me to go to merced and transfer to berkeley after a year?
@candylover132 I’m also waiting to hear back from UCR for political science and I have been rejected from 2 UC’s. It is possible to transfer to Berkeley from Merced but usually if you are transferring the process takes 2 years before you can transfer whether you are transferring from a community or another 4 year. That’s because they usually take incoming juniors rather than sophomores. But if it’s something you really wanted to do just talk to a counselor from Berkeley and see what your best option is.
Waiting for political science too…
@candylover132 Yes, @mekun1 is right. It may be possible but only as a transfer once you’ve reached a certain amount of credits after 2 years. It would be best to talk you a counselor so you go the right track.
@mekun1 Typically you transfer after 2 years but my nephew was able to transfer from Davis to UCSD after his first year but he had a ton of AP units going in as a freshman so that may have been how he was able to do it.
ACCEPTED!
computer science w business applications
gpa somewhere between 3.0 to 3.096
I had 9 Ws lol…
upward trend in gpa got like a 2.0 first semester and then got a 3.2 and a 3.3 for the remaining semesters.
Rejected: SJSU
Accepted: UCR
Waiting: UC Merced, UCSC, this nearby csu i dont really care about anymore…
oh im a transfer btw
congrats @makeupandme that is good to hear at least there is 1-2 the last few days so it gives us hope. Are you a freshman or tranfser?
@makeupandme I’m confused… How are you still waiting on UCSC? All of those were released on the 15th. My son was waitlisted
Not all transfers have been notified. That is what is confusing on these threads that this is a Class of 2022 thus implying freshmen and transfers should have their own thread but some still post in the 2022 threads. I have noticed that on all of the schools so it makes it really confusing for freshman admits as they are on different timelines than transfers with different stats.
To transfer to UC do we need to wait for two year or one year? I mean after 1st we can apply
@deb_prath It should take around 2 years in total to transfer to a UC. Depending on your community college GPA, you may be able to apply for guaranteed admission to the UC school of your choice. Let’s just say you begin at your local community college in the fall (2018), and later on during the beginning of Fall 2019, you have more than 30 units to transfer, you can submit your application to apply to the UC’s you want to attend. Hopefully, this explanation was clear enough.
Here is UCR’s TAG information:

Thanks. How about UC to UC or from other NE college to UC.
@deb_prath Here is a more specific timeline regarding the transition from community college to UCR.

Regarding a UC to UC Transfer, I do not have any knowledge about that Sorry.
Is there a document for Riverside showing the average GPA and SAT by major of prior years admittance? Guessing I’m thinking that maybe I’m way off base on how safe this school might be. I know I have seen it on these sites for other UC schools just havent seen it for UCR.
Here is a link for UC Transfer Admit GPA by major and campus. It is usually updated for the prior year in January/February.
https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
Here is transfers by college: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/admissions-source-school
I highly suggest if you are interested in transferrring, doing TAG which was mentioned in post #611, is the best way to go about it.
Priority goes to CA CC transfers, followed by UC to UC and CSU to UC transfers, then CA 4 year privates followed by OOS transfers whom have the lowest priority.
Thanks @gumbymom I was looking for freshman admits not tranfers.
@Bean981: UCI is the only UC that I have found has the average UC GPA/Test scores by major documentation so far. Always researching to see if there is something I have overlooked.
Ahh ok thanks @gumbymom that is probably where I have seen it in the past when you posted it over there. Just banging my head on this one along with CPP for no word yet and transfers already going out but many freshmen haven’t heard yet. So different than 3 yrs ago when I went through this with D. Oh well guess we just sit back and wait until next Friday for UCR & UCI since no one seems to know when they will come out. CPP now says by 4/15.
@Bean981: This year has been exceptionally frustrating for many applicants. When my older son applied 5 years and his brother 4 years ago, they both heard from UCR in January and the majority of applicants were all notified by Mid-February. CPP notified them also in January. As more applicants continue to apply, I think admissions is overwhelmed. Hopefully everyone will hear shortly but just remember “bloom where planted” so take advantage of all opportunities available to you even if the school is not your first choice, since your safety school may be some one else’s dream school.
