UCR Mandatory Orientation?

So I heard for UCR Orientation is mandatory and that’s when you sign up for your classes.
I just am concerned because I heard classes fill up really fast, and it most likely seems I have to go to an orientation during August because I’m going to be overseas for most of July…

Is this a bad choice…?
Will I get like the worst classes and not get into some classes I need if I take the August Orientation or Late July one?

I really don’t know what to choose…

I’ve heard so many “it’s different for everyone/every year” I need a definite answer

For first year, you will be in a learning community. Most of your classes have been reserved for you.

Even though I am in an LC, i had to choose all my classes and all the good ones ran out so I ended up taking weird breath courses.
