UCR or wait and apply for 2010?? Help!

Okay so, I've been admitted to UCR for Fall Quarter 2009. I'm actually not sure how I got in considering I'm finishing IGETC in the Summer and I'll only have 50 units after Spring (2.8 GPA). However, I'm not sure if I should take this fluke and run or wait it out and re-apply in November. I would really appreciate some advice on this one.

Note: I also applied to UCI, but we all know I won't fluke an acceptance there. IF I wait this out and re-apply, I will have 3.2 GPA, an amazing extra curricular, TAG, and TAP for my Fall Quarter 2010 application; also, if you're wondering about my major, it's philosophy.

I dont know…do u really want to live in riverside?! just think about that for a while…

//sorry i’m bored

include <iostream></iostream>

using namespace std;
float n1,n2;
int main()
{
cout << “How bad do you want to get out of CC?”;
cin >>n1;

cout <<“How bad do you want to goto UCI?”;
cin>> n2;

system (“cls”);

if (n1>n2)
cout << "Goto UCR
";

if (n2>n1)
cout << “Goto UCI”;

return 0;
}

I know someone that got into UCR after getting rejected from UCLA, which is kind of interesting, since he never actually applied into Riverside.

dude just hold out. think about it, going to a CC means ur getting a fresh start on ur academic career, do u really want to waste that blank slate on a school like riverside?? or wait and work a little harder and get into a school that you or no one else thought u could get into when you were in high school. just seriously think about it, your choice to go to a community college was like a rebirth, do u really want to waste that opportunity?

Yeah, you’re right. I kind of been leaning towards waiting as well; I guess I just needed some reassurance. Thanks again for your feedback.

Definitely wait to apply for Fall’10, unless you fall in love with Riverside (which I hope not) :slight_smile: No offense, but I think any UC is better than UCR (perhaps except for Merced), it’s worth a wait.

And with a higher GPA (3.2 or better) and everything you said, I think you’ll have no problem getting into other UCs (UCI, UCSD, UCSB, etc.)

Good luck!

i say wait and apply next year until you really dont like your life where you currently are. with a 3.2 you could get into SB and SD and enjoy your college experience much more

I say wait and apply. =) And you’re honestly not far from other schools. I’ll get honest here. I currently have a 3.5 GPA, not pretty high. I don’t like boasting about grades, because frankly, I’m not the academic type. It was prior to that semester when I had a 3.2 GPA, and got a “get your grades up” from my counselor. Thankfully I did. Filling out all the IGETC and the req., I got into UCSB, UCI, UCSD, and UCSC. I’d wait it out, and you’re bound to get your schools =)
