Not stellar.... but, well, it is what it is.

I would say you have pretty decent chances at all of those schools. Good job on making such excellent grades, and being involved in distinguishing activities. Best of luck!

Chance me, please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/991720-chance-homeless-fordham.html

You’re a strong candidate for berkeley and berkeley needs white students as they are becoming a minority in the campus. You should apply to berkeley (as you have a good shot) and enroll when accepted. Berkeley has the best chemistry program in the world. One element in the periodic table was named after it – the Berkelium. It is also at Berkeley where the periodic table was arranged. Chemistry and Chemical engineering have their own facilities, which are big, abundant and modern. The university has renovated and improved the college just very recently. The chem and chem eng’g labs now are awesome, and certainly, world-class!

good luck!

Thanks for the replies. UC’s are a big focus of mine, but I’d also like to apply to a couple of private schools that would be in reach for me.
Any other opinions?

Harvard? Yale? LOL I’m sorry but basically every college in the world is within reach. I’m hoping this is a dilemma that you can cope with :)

Have you considered USC? I feel like USC would be in reach for you. I’m sure with your test scores and grades they’d love to have you and they’d probably make it very affordable for you attend, maybe even cheaper than attending a UC in state.

none of the schools in your list would be “reach” for your stats. If you want schools that are challenging for your stats, then consider the ff: HYPSM

Nonetheless, Berkeley has a slightly better chem and / or chem eng’g program.

Why Grinnell? My S is a chem major there and loves it, but it doesn’t fit with your list of prospective schools especially well. No chemical engineering-it’s a LAC. No mountain biking-Grinnell is located in the prairie/farmland.
