UCs, Stanford?

I'm a junior in High School, my school is REALLY competitive, and I'm really interested in medicine. I have been volunteering at a hospital for the past two years and interned at a genetics lab at UCLA. I play the piano and paint. Last year I competed through my school for a Family consumer science organization, made it all the way to nationals and got a gold medal. my gpa is a 3.96 unweighted and 5.14 weighted. top 9%. hopefully that will go up this year, we get ranked at the end of every semester

soph: AP World History (got a 3 on the exam, not very good :/ ), medical microbiology, PreAP Chem, other cores
Junior: AP Spanish, AP english, AP bio, AP us history, PreAP Pre-Cal, Biomedical, Lifetime nutrition(taking AP exam in all 4)

Im in FCCLA, HOSA, Interact, NHS..

The only thing I'm lacking is an SAT score, what should I aim for?
I know Stanford would be crazy but whatever. I live in Texas so I was also wondering if I might be able to qualify for some scholarships.
I'm Indian BTW :)) My dad graduated from UCLA (PhD) if that means anything..

Thanks!!

And Btw I wanna do premed :)

Being Indian is a HUGE advantage. I would try to get at least a 2200 SAT (or a 33-34 ACT) for Stanford, UCs can be a bit lower (maybe with the exception of Berkeley and LA). Keep doing volunteer work and maybe join/found a club at your school. As long as you stay on the right track for the rest of high school you should be set.

^^ Don’t you mean a HUGE disadvantage?

Yeah, it is a disadvantage not an advantage, it makes you an ORM which means your stats should be higher then the schools averages and your will still have trouble getting in. GPA is good, I am assuming your SAT/ACT will be as well. Good luck I am sure you will get into somewhere good!

I took the sat!! I have to take it again I had the flu so I didn’t do as good as I could have  I got a 1950. Does that change anything?

A 1950 as an ORM will hurt your chances for Stanford quite a bit, for the UCs it will vary by school.

Yeah, I’m for sure retaking it

The ones I want to apply to are la, irvine, sd, and sf. Also, I am thinking about usc

USC : Reach
LA: Reach
Berkeley: Reach

All others match. Can you afford the OOS price at UC’s ?
Why not just goto your state flagship University i.e University of Texas at Austin ? For pre-med you should not have any debt in undergraduate.

That’s probably where I’ll end up going, I wish California offered more aid! I’m just looking around, I live in Austin so going to college here as well might be a little boring :/

Oh, and my rank went up, I’m in the 8th percentile now
