UCs VS Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Hi I have to make a decision ... a difficult one... at least that is what i think. I was wondering if anyone could give me some GOOD advice. I got accepted to Cal Poly SLO, UCSD, UCSB... i plan to major in computer science. Which one is the best for that major? Thanks to anyone who can help me!

mmm... people please... help!

I chose cal poly over all the UCs i got into (SB, I, D)....

if that helps

ucsb and cal poly slo are usually looked at as equivalent overall universities, while ucsd is usually looked at as slightly superior and more difficult to gain admittance too. i would likely choose sd for adacemics, but slo or sb for overall college experience.

adacemically: ucsd >>> ucsb, cal poly slo

this is generally accepted.

i would also imagine for computer science that sd and sb are superior to slo.

computer science:
1. ucsd
2. ucsb
3. cal poly slo

hey i have another question... which is better for computer engineering? ucsb, ucsd or cal poly slo?

i just looked up the us news national rankings on computer science, and ucsd is ranked number 20 in the country. ucsb is not ranked in the top 35 listed. and cal poly slo, do to its status as a non-national university (non-ph.d granting university), is not ranked.

thanks for the info... do you know anything about computer engineering? which is best?

I've heard, but i could be totally wrong, that for engineering cal poly is better.

take it for what it's worth.

engineering (us news):

ucsd- 11th in the country

ucsb- 21st in the country

cal poly slo- not ranked in the ph.d granting universities us news ranking do to being a non-ph.d granting university. However, it is known to have a good engineering department, not on the level of a ucsd or ucla though. check us news college ranking, not graduate ranking, and i believe slo may be ranked quite good in their list of undergraduate engineering programs.

so i would say for engineering:
1. ucsd
2. tied- ucsb, cal poly slo

CPSLO has a higher peer assesment score for engineering than all UC's except berkeley, so I'd prob go with that as long as you like the school. As for comp sci, I'd go either slo or ucsd.

well thank you all for the einfo... i think i'll go for ucsd... but firrst i'll go to the freshman day or whatever and to the open house at cal poly!

go check all three schools out. academic rankings arent everything. sb and slo have much better party scenes/social atmosphere than ucsd. so deff check all three out before making up your mind, but i agree academically ucsd is your choice.
