UCSB Acceptance

That pic pretty much summed it up ;_;

I like how UCI released some decisions to tease and have stopped for the past week.

UGH

I was in Bio class when I got it, I was all excited and then I was like *****!

I just got it like 5 mins ago and I was like OK just let this get over with. Opened it up, thank you for… Your decisions will be post from March 17 till May 1.?

oh jeeze (: looved the pic!!!^^
i was feeling the same…

my heart was beating… whew… now i have to wait…and wait -_-

Does anyone know if TAGed people will be notified first? I haven’t received any decisions from any school I applied to; its like I’m non-existent haha. I wouldn’t be so nervous had UCSB not sent me such an ambiguous TAG response.

Most of the schools sent out an ambiguous response. All that means is that you’re guaranteed IF you keep up your end of the bargain by completing the TAG requirements.

They haven’t confirmed how they will release the responses except for the date they will start releasing them. Look sharp for the 21st!

So many people did the tag thing… they can’t guarantee all of us :frowning: god monday is soooooooooooo far away :(

lmao! That is exactly the emotions I went through when I saw that email! Why would they do that to us?!? Was it a joke on their part?

@aninstance

Well, yes, they will. It’s a guarantee, period, if the student holds up his or her end of the bargain. They can do it because so many students are accepted to multiple colleges–I applied to 7 UCs, and I’ll only be attending one.

However, if something disastrous happened, like they only had 4,000 seats but 20,000 TAGed applicants submitted SIRs, they’d probably have to do something. They might say, “Free tuition and living expenses if you start next year, or if you attend one of these 4 other UCs.” They can’t just decide to say “no” to a TAG applicant–it’s a contract.

@nick

:O

I thought none of the TAG’s had been formally approved yet. So would it really be a breach of contract if the contract never formally existed?

Ok, Now you’re just getting into technicalities. In the end, they cannot be unfair with this. You signed something called a “transfer admission guarantee” with all of the requirements fulfilled. If they haven’t denied you yet then all bets say you’ll get in if you make sure to fulfill the conditions. If you still don’t get in, then there’s always the appeal process or even a simple phone call. I think I completely deserve to get into UCSD even without my TAG but if I don’t get in, you can bet that I will be appealing. I probably wouldn’t appeal UCSB though since I’m not THAT dedicated to try to get in there as compared to UCSD or Davis.

So just be cheery and know that things usually turn out for the best! :)

^ what are your stats?

I’ve applied to different majors at each of the UC’s, some highly unrelated to one another.

For UCSD & UCSB:
Major has no bearing on application evaluation (except for specific UCSB majors for which I am not applying)

GPA:3.52 (All A’s and B’s. More A’s than B’s but some of the B’s just counted for a lot more like my 5 unit French class)

Extracurricular: CCE hospital intern, 2 month bio-physics research internship at UCR last summer, privately tutor math and science for high school students, I’ve worked some fastfood, I’ve worked some other small jobs here and there, I was the secretary and then later the treasurer for a club at my CC, anddddd that’s about it! oh and i teach at a weekend school. There are more too but those are mostly from senior year in high school back in 2008-2009. Things like lead in a play and chamber singers and vice-pres of the young democrats.

My essay was pretty good too.

My strong point is all of the A’s I got in all the math classes offered at my CC. I had just 2 B’s but I started at a low level before taking a math class every semester and then 2 together last fall. I’m finishing up Differential Equations this semester then I’m done!

I’m reallyyyyyy interested in UCSD’s Cognitive Science major though so if I get in, probably do that and move onto Medical school

I just chose Biopsychology for UCSB but really not too psyched (get it?) about this major…

What about you @Pianocat?

^Oooo, more Psych majors, people who are interested in the Neuro/Bio aspects too! Hello brotherr

Kindaaaa. I’m really interested in the neuro parts but not really into all of Psychology so much. I like certain parts of psychology a LOT though. I started this process of going through a whole buncha majors because I was really confused and then I stumbled across Cognitive Science and it seemed like the PERFECT cross between all of the different things I really like. UCSD’s major seemed even better than Berkeley or LA’s because the subjects it stressed seemed more in line with my interest. I also found that UCSD was one of the top schools in the nation for this major so that is also good to hear :)

My UC GPA is a 3.1

Major: Biology
finished most my prereqs but still have some to go
my alt major is: psych
finished IGETC/English/Math requirements
have 60 units
Also TAG’d to UCSD,UCI,UCSB,UCD

first choice is in this order
UCSD,UCI,UCSB,UCD

Didnt they sent out email saying its 21st? I thought i got that.

I just checked my email. They emailed me that they are goin to send out decision on march 21 st.

Which means its soon! :)
