Did any of you guys get into top tier UC's (UCB, UCLA, UCSD)? and if so, for what reasons are you considering UCSB?

I got into ucsd but would rather go to Santa Barbra because they have a great economic accounting major. Also my friends at sd say the social scene at sd is very sad. Santa barbara is a great environment and school.

For what its worth:

My son last year was admitted to UCLA, Cal, and UCSD. He chose to attend UCSB because of the College of Creative Studies. He loves it there and has zero regrets turning down these more “prestigious” universities.

Go with what your heart tells you. Do not get caught up in brand names.

I chose UCSB over UCSD because I like the atmosphere more. UCSD to me just felt like a much more studious and stressful environment while UCSB is more laid back. And the beach was too hard to get to at UCSD.

I’m considering UCSB over UCSD.

–lesser need for a car
–bike friendly
–better social life
–more diverse (i.e. school population better reflects CA’s population)
–easier GEs (depending on UCSD college of course)
–less competition (seems like a reasonable assumption)

Rankings aren’t everything and I’d take a better 4 years over a negligible jump in rankings.

im going to top tier schools over UCSB, UCSB is just not good enough for my talents.

@lovecolleges, just wishing you that your talents are as good as the other talents from a top tier school …
