Well R.I.P Guys just showed a small letter coming from UCSB on informed delivery. I was an Appeal applicant.Its dated 5/10 on top.
@jpp257
Well, what did your letter say?
@805Mommp If i’m correct i believe jpp257 hasn’t received the letter yet. Informed delivery is offered by USPS. I don’t really know how it works or anything but i think it lets you see mail being sent to you. That’s not good because last year people who received letters were denied, but their portals didn’t update/they didn’t get an email. Jpp257 having a letter on the way form UCSB isn’t a good sign, I cant say for sure tho.
@professorchez @805Mommp .Well, if you are an appeal candidate I may have bad news for you. It says the class is full and they are unable to offer me admission. UCSB would have been nice but happily going to UCSD. Maybe they didn’t like my letter and just said that they are full. Regardless, I was denied.
@jpp257 Are you a freshman?
@jpp257 where did it say this?
@professorchez @srg18011
I received a letter in the mail. It said thank you for applying blah blah. We considered your appeal. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you admission as we have reached the enrollment limit for Fall of 2019. I’m not sure if all the appeals are get denied. Yes, I am a freshman.
Went thru the 2021 waitlist (since the waitlist acceptances number last year was way too low) and posting where on 8th someone got a snail mail that the class was full and (not sure if appeal or not). Then around 16th a wave of acceptances followed and later pretty much all rejects when the class filed. Not sure what logic SB uses on that.
Based on 2021 - 1st wave around 5/4 and 2nd wave around 5/16.
@jpp257 welp good luck guys i just got admitted
Way cool! Congratulations!
Anybody else get in today?
@professorchez
Congrats! Were you a transfer applicant? maybe that’s why not sure why they would be accepting people if they said they were full. Anyway, that’s good to hear that one of us made it! I wouldn’t read into me receiving the letter. They most likely just didn’t like me. Best of Luck to those still in the hunt! No matter what happens it doesn’t stop you from being successful. I would have wanted to go to UCSB but UCSD is a great school and look forward to it!
@jpp257 I’m a transfer applicant, I also had a TAG when I applied ( that might have helped). I sent my appeal late in the afternoon on 5/10/19 and got a response on 5/16/19. My major is Anthropology. I applied to UCSD also , I was pretty torn between the 2 but I didn’t get in UCSD because of the confusion I had with my transcripts. Some things work themselves out and you end up in the place where you need to be. Good Luck at UCSD it will be great.
@professorchez That makes a lot more sense maybe the meant the limit for freshman. I agree that things happen for a reason. I’m going to stop worrying about why I got rejected and just put my energy in looking forward to UCSD. I am sorry to hear about what happened with UCSD. I live near SB and I can assure it’s a great school and you will love it. Best of Luck to you man you will do great things!
Has anyone heard back from UCSB in the last few days? For incoming freshmen btw!
Also if you haven’t heard back from the waitlist yet, does that mean a rejection is on the way? Is it a slim chance now?
@leejena no; you only know you’re rejected if they tell you. there’s no way to predict anything so it’s better not to think about it
I just called the Office of Administration and they said there seems to be a low amount of students that may be admitted off the waitlist due to the transfers being admitted and they are waiting to see if some students are being admitted to other schools.
Oh okay thank you. And by low amount, do they mean almost all spots are already filled up now?
