UCSB WAITLIST CLASS OF 2019

I just accepted my place in the wait list for UCSB. Im just making this page to discuss and ask questions about the wait list. I hope the people who get on the wait list get accepted off of it!

Same I just accepted my place also, I have been admitted into UCSD and UCSC and waiting to hear from UCLA still

got waitlisted here and Cal Poly :frowning:

My daughter was wait listed as well! I hope you all hear very soon if you have been offered an opening at UCSB!

Waitlisted here and at UCSC. Didn’t expect this one

Accepted to UCSD? You need to go there and give us UCSD rejects/waitlists a chance of getting into SB please lol

Waitlist acceptance rate for all UC campuses from last year:

That’s pretty grim.

Waitlisted to UCSD and UCSB

just got waitlisted today. UCSB was my #1 should i send in a letter of continued interest into the office of admissions to help my cause

I ended up getting rejected but I still really want to appeal. How much of a difference does it make if I got straight A’s so far (includes AP calculus BC, AP Physics 1, AP Macro/Microeconomics)?

In the appeal I was hoping to talk about how I’ve taken my education a lot more seriously compared to my sophomore year when I earned a D in AP chemistry and a lot of B’s in other classes. After that D I’ve had straight A’s from my junior year to now.

Oh yeah and the major I applied for was physics.

Thanks to anyone willing to respond!

Bump

I got waitlisted with a 4.05 gpa and 2020 on sat, been denied from UCD and UCSD, academic scholarships to riverside and oregon, just hoping to get into SB, really confused why I got denied and waitlisted with a really good essay too, I think I am above their average academic acceptence, but still getting denied and waitlisted. SB is top priority though. Wish I could know what more I could have some

This thread should be moved…

At jfordz49, you were most likely waitlisted because everyone and their mother wants to go to these schools. And why do they want to attend? Hmmm! Santa Barbara (top party school) and La Jolla(not so much for the partying), both great reputations, decent tuition, the allure of CA -Yes, they are good schools-but come on they have perfect locations and so many out of state/out of country students who have to pay more $ have applied and the competition is fierce. These schools need the money because the UC’s schools are underfunded and just don’t have it, so they are taking students who will pay more over a lot of very qualified CA students who pay less. Unfortunate but true. Daughter was accepted to Davis, but didn’t get in either SB or SD. She’s ok with it and will go the private route most likely. Good luck to you. You will find success wherever you go and sorry you have to deal with the waitlist thing. Not fun! Their admittance policy/procedure just won’t make sense to those who aren’t fortunate enough to get in. You obviously are qualified.

My daughters stats were very close to yours with a 4.1 gpa and 1990 SAT, IB student. She was accepted to Davis and waitlisted UCSB & UCSD. From what ive read on this board from years past, ( see posts under "rejected at lower tiers only to be accepted) admissions can be very random, students outright rejected at UCSB went on to get accepted at both UCLA & Berkeley , so maybe you are over qualified for UCSB-lol! Think positive, it could be the case. I was also reading about a student who was rejected everywhere and then accepted at Harvard ( serious- look it up - an article. Also check the “where do the 2400 end up?” referring to perfect SAT , lots of rejection there as well. Hang in there & good luck!

I got waitlisted for UCSB and UCI. UCSB for Financial Mathematics and Statistics and UCI for Business Administration. Does anybody know my chances of getting in specifically for these majors! And good luck to everybody! I hope we get in!!!

I got into UCD and UCI, waitlisted by UCSB and UCSD, and rejected by UCLA. I’m accepting place on the list to keep my options open even though I’m leaning towards Davis.
(I’m also waiting on 5 other schools RD Decisions/Likely Rejections)

waitlisted. UC gpa: 3.96 SAT: 1950. 9 AP classes throughout all 4 years. solid essays, had them reviewed by my counselors and ap lit teacher. part of student leadership program at my school. a few extra curriculars. also waitlisted at UCSD and UCI. UCs have been pretty brutal to me!

Sup doods. Howz it going. I got waitlisted and im feeling the blues.
