UCSB class of 2023

@frzngrapes33 you may be correct. Got both “Virtual Open House” email and chancellor’s invite back in Feb.

I didn’t get the chancellor’s invite but I did get the “Virtual Open House”

@collegedreams121 Just wondered if you already did an official campus visit?

I didn’t get the email, but I did do a campus visit last spring… hopefully not a bad sign

Do you think the email has correlation to admission? Kinda scared I didn’t get it…

I didn’t receive the email either but I wouldn’t read too far into it. I get the same type emails for Ivy Leagues but will I get in? Not in a million years. I don’t think it’s of any importance.

I wouldn’t worry about an email like that. We’re all trying to read signs, but I cannot imagine there’s a connection between the admissions decision and a virtual open house email. They could come from completely different parts of campus and even from parts of the school that are maintaining different email lists.

We will see on Tuesday anyways. Tuesday isn’t that far away

@Gumbymom I’m SO happy to see that you’re designated UC Forum Champion because you were so helpful and insightful on the cal poly SLO thread! I read that UCLA has a high probability of releasing decisions tomorrow. Do you think that UCSB and UCSD may do the same? Thanks!

@california2001: I cannot confirm any decision dates. The likelihood that all these UC’s follow the same decision date pattern as previous years can give applicants an indication it could happen. UCSB has confirmed that they will post decisions on Tuesday March 19. UCSD usually has an Early calling campaign prior to release of decisions which to my knowledge has not started and some CC posters are saying admissions needs more time to review applications for UCLA, so most are speculating on next Friday March 22.

As a UC Forum champion I have no inside knowledge. Best of luck and it will happen when it happens.

@junani no campus visit! I’m out of state on the other side of the country, but I’ve visited a few of the other UCs a few times

So should we or should we not read into this

@LincolnsGF in state or out of state? And did you receive a chancellors invite?

@Gumbymom any thoughts on this “Open House invite email?

@ckk2013 In state. I received a chancellor’s invite, and was also accepted to College of Creative Studies for Mathematics at the invite-only open house on Feb 25th for math CCS.

I found this link today about UC decision dates, https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/b0465h/all_uc_decisions_finalized/

hope it helps

Congratulations LincolnsGF! My daughter received the Chancellor’s invite but we were unable to attend. She also applied to CCS Chemistry but we don’t know if she was admitted to CCS. You mentioned a CCS open house on the 25th, was this just for Mathmatics CCS?

@ckk2013. A generic email so do not read anything into receiving it or not.

@Stealther Yes. I was invited to a select open house for Math CCS. Not sure if all CCS programs do this. The open house consisted of a meeting with the head professor, a Math CCS specific tour, a sit-in on an Applied Linear Algebra Class, and lunch with current CCS math students.

Son did not receive any open house email or invite to any event. He did however receive the Regents package in the mail back in February. Is this because we’re not in state?
