Do international students get a chancellors invite?
@Gumbymom i read somewhere in one of your previous posts (don’t remember which UC thread)… it is true or just based on your past experience that a student would only get maximum 2 regent invites? My S got UCI honors, UCLA regent & alumni invite and UCB regent invite… but nothing from UCSB. Thanks!
@happypeaspinapod: I am not aware there is a limit on the # of regent invites a student can be get. Each UC determines their Regents recipients based on their own criteria and it can differ from campus to campus. UCSB has a preference in volunteer/community service.
@happypeasinapod One of our kids had 3 Regents offers, so there is definitely not a limit of 2. They are individual by campus anyway. If yours got one from both UCLA and UCB, the others may have known how outstanding he is and not wasted an offer. He’s super fortunate to have that chance at both those schools, be very thankful.
Chance me??

applicant portal officially closed until tuesday at 3! they even wrote a poem lol
“The UCSB Applicant Portal is currently closed.
This closure begain on 03/17/2019 at 10:00 PM PST
and will end on 03/19/2019 at 03:00 PM PST.
Welcome, applicants, one and all,
We’re so happy you’ve applied to UCSB for the fall,
If it’s an admission decision you’re waiting to see,
Check back here on March 19 at 3!”
Hey guys, I recently received an email from UCSB that said-
"Mark your calendars! UC Santa Barbara admission decisions will be posted on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 3pm PST on the portal.
Our records indicate that you have not created your UCSB Applicant Portal login. Use your Perm number () or UC Application ID number to access your portal. Watch our short portal tutorial webinar for instructions.
Note: The portal will be closed as we load admission data on Sunday evening until March 19 at 3pm, so be sure to create your login before that time."
However, I have created and logged into my portal using both my application ID and my UCSB perm number. Is this something to worry about? Or should I just ignore it since I have created my portal already?
I suggest that you send them an email telling them that you’ve already created and logged into the portal before to avoid any future problems. The portal is currently closed so there’s no way you can try logging in, and I didn’t receive that email so I assume that it was specifically sent to you. Just let them know.
I created my portal and received that email aswell, so idk if I should be worried.
We got that too. Daughter said it seems to be a general message to everyone and she had no problems getting into the portal with her existing id.
Hummm. My D hasn’t received an email from UCSB recently. She created her portal when they emailed her about receiving her application.
I emailed UCSB and they told me to disregard the email if I was able to log on successfully, so it should be fine!
honestly I am very nervous, I got waitlisted at ucsc and ucd with a 34 ACT and 4.1 GPA and major psychology, but I got into Cal Poly SLO which is harder to get into. I’m just really scared with the UC system and UCSB is my top choice so I am so nervous welp!
Im so nervous too UCSB is my top school but have such lower stats than the average applicant. so sad to me
This is also our top choice but have low gpa…not expecting to get in.
I was rejected from Davis with a 4.2 and 32 ACT so I’m really not expecting to get into any of the other UCs I applied to (SB, LA, Berk) :’(
I have a 4.5 fully weighted and a 4.1 uc gpa, but my unweighted gpa is only a 3.83. I’m very worried that my unweighted gpa is too low but I guess I will see tomorrow!!
I believe that you’ll be accepted into UCSB tomorrow.
My D 4.53 weighted, 4.45 UC capped and 3.91 unweighted. She has been accepted to UCSB and UCI.
@tmeg01 probably not a big deal. I created my login back in December, and also didn’t receive the email. Maybe they only sent it to people who haven’t logged in recently or something.
