I recieved a cd with a movie about the honors program and a little letter saying that I got into the honors program in the college of L&S.(I got accepted to UCSB last week). I've been looking through some of the stuff and I can't see much of anything special about it except for early registration and extra discussion sections for certain clases.

Does anyone have any good information about this? Is it actually a worthwhile program or is it just some nice perks added on to the regular UCSB program? I don't know much of anything about it.

early registration is worth its weight in gold at a UC school!!! It means you'll get into the classes you want, at the times you want. When you're filling your GE requirements you're trying to get into the same classes everyone else wants.

There are a few other perks like special advisors, etc., but the registration alone makes it all worthwhile.

yeah I got into UCSB honors but I'm not going (deciding between UCB and UCLA). Although early registration doesn't sound like much, you can take any class you want any time you want, and at a school with 20,000 students, that is huge. Private school honors programs aren't anything great but public ones should not be passed up!!
