Ucsb housing for transfers 2013

Hi I just got accepted to UCSB and I was wondering what would be best housing option I was thinking of Villas at Tropicana anyone stayed there? What are some other places that are well worth it icon and loop are a bit pricey

I’ve lived at the Villas before. The Villas is pretty nice. All the furniture is included, they have a Rec Room, and you can use the gym at their other building, Trop Del Norte. Its about 3 blocks away from campus. Its meant for upperclassmen because you have to be 20 years old or have completed at least one year of school, but you’re a transfer student, so you should be golden. I came in as a transfer student too, it was nice to be around people who were around the same age as I was.

Are the rooms/living rooms a nice size? How do they compare to other apartments like capri?

As a transfer student your best option is to take advantage of the two year housing guarentee with UCSB Off-Campus apartments. For a double room in a fully furnished apartment with all utilities included you are looking at $570 a month for a nine month lease. Check out the ammenities: [Santa Ynez Apartments | Housing & Residential Services UCSB](http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/residences/santa-ynez-apartments)
Parking permits for the 9 month term go for $338. No security deposit! It is a really great option!
Compared to the Villa’s your looking at at least $700 a month and at least $800 for parking for the year, and large security deposit.

I was thinking santa ynez anyone live there? I will also be getting full financial aid.

For your first year I recommend living in university apartments so you don’t have to worry about paying utilities, etc.

Santa Ynez is the best deal for the price, if you are okay sharing a two bedroom apartment with three our four other people of the same gender.

Personally, I prefer San Clemente, which is the graduate apartment complex. It is quieter overall and everyone is guaranteed their own bedroom. They accept undergraduates when space is available (about 1/4 of the complex is undergrads now).

Thank you all for your answers ! I’m looking for into santa ynez
