Looking at other UC schools beyond UCSD and ran across this one. It seems to have a focus on NGO/non-profit stuff which is right up my alley, but I'm concerned about their reputation as the program is only two years old and only admits 15 students per year.

Is it even worth applying?

I’m thinking of applying too, I’m not overly concerned about the reputation though.

The matter of the fact is, there aren’t very many options on the west coast for International Development type pograms. UCSD has one but I believe its specifically for pacific rim/asia.

I come from a “new” program at UCLA (International Development Studies), but the professors were top notch, and the program more than doubles in size every year.

I have a feeling it will be the same at UCSB.

Curious if either of you were accepted to the program? This year they admitted 22 applicants, and reviewed 55 applications. So it does indeed seem like they are expanding the program since the max number of applicants for the last 5 years has been 15.
