After completing two years at a CCC, I got into UCI and UCSB, but I don't know where to go. I applied as a Chemistry major at UCI, but they said I didn't not qualify in my admissions letter, so instead they put me down as a Public Health Policy major in their School of Ecology, which I did not add as an alternate major. (Would I be able to change my major as a transfer student?) For UCSB, I got into their College of Letters and Science as a BioChem major.

I'm very confused about where to transfer to. UCI seems to be the logical choice because they have an extensive Biological Science field, whereas UCSB is more for Engineering. Then it seems that UCSB has the nicer campus and surroundings, and UCI seems to be in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks a lot for reading and your opinions!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a transfer student accepted to UCSD, UCI and UCSB (only 3 i applied to).

It really depends what you want out of college. First of all, the two schools are pretty much the same in terms of academics. UCI has a great biology program and UCSB has a great engineering program. This doesn't mean you have to select on based on the major, each school will be more than qualified to teach you whatever you intend on being taught (Biochem, Chem, Bio). Secondly, UCSB has a great social life where you can actually enjoy school and grow as an individual. This is primarily why I did not choose UCSD (and I'm a BIO major)!

It really depends.

Ask yourself these questions:

Where would you like to live for the next 2 years?

Where can you see yourself growing the most?

Where will you get the best education?
etc,etc

Ahh, yes, and MrDreamweaver - I did decide to attend UCSB. If you care to hear why, send me a message and I'll tell you the in-depth story... otherwise, if you don't care, pretend you never saw this post and I won't know any better =).
