I am trying to decide between UCSB and UCSD. I have visited both campuses twice and I still can’t decide. I think both schools have really good academics, I’m more concerned with the social scene. I am relatively shy and quiet so I feel like I would be intimidated by the social scene at ucsb. However, if people are more extroverted at ucsb maybe I’ll have an easier time making friends?
It’s very easy to make friends at UCSB, especially if you live in the dorm.
SB may be a better fit. Almost everyone lives on/near campus all 4 years, so friends/acquantances you make anytime while you are a student are going to be easy to meet up with to study, hang out, etc. . At SD most people move out into the greater San Diego area after frosh year, with Mission and Pacific beach areas being especially popular. So the bar becomes higher for a casual get-together.
I doubt people are more extroverted at one school or the other; they are drawing from roughly the same pool of admits.
Got to agree with previous post – UCSB is tight knit with everyone near campus.
