UCSB reception invitation

Kids from my school received one of the reception invitation thingys.
Also, some people on this site received one as well. In comparison to some people who got one of theses, I have equal to higher stats, 4.2 uc gpa and 1250 sat1, (not fantastic but capable for ucsb) and I am also ELC.
Im curious if this means i didnt get in or if I am just not outstandidng enough, hehe.
Ya, thanks for any comments.

That is really weird....

I got one and my GPA is way lower...but then again my SAT is way higher....

I made a threat about this already; from what people told me, it doesn't necessarily mean you're in, but others have told me that the chancellor tells you that you're basically accepted at the reception.

BTW, what stats do people are your school have? Mine are seriously mediocre and yet I recieved one too. I'm just wondering.

ya, i thought ucsb would be a safer match for me
and now i am worrying that i didnt get in
I have plenty of ec's and stuff like that so im not really lacking in any particular field.

yeah, my sat is higher too.

umm
i know kids that have 3.7's-4.0's that got this. Obviously some hold a lower rank than me and the elc acceptance rate is like 92% or something. So if i dont get in with above average stats, im gonna be upset

Advise for everyone who might be worrying about UCs::

Start writing an appeal NOW.

It'll be easier that way because when people get rejected, they are very likely to stop caring about everything.

Appeals? But for what reason?

ya ill pass

Well I'm just saying, if there was something else you want them to know.

"Chancellor Yang serves as host at a series of receptions UCSB sponsors around the state for applicants who have been accepted. At these popular events, volunteers from the campus – faculty and staff members, students, administrators, and alumni – speak about the institution, its programs and opportunities. Close to 5,000 guests attended such receptions this year."

niiiiiiiiiiice

thats kinda vague though
some people might receive notice of the reception after they get their acceptance letters
or maybe im just too optimistic

I got the invitation today but the admission decision will not be known until Mar 21

I received one today also. By searching the past threads, I’ve noticed that if you received one, YOUR IN!! COOL HUH?

where else are you applying ???

email correct?

is this invitation through snail mail or e-mail?
i didn’t receive one so i suppose i didn’t get in. a huge part of me is denying that though, because ucsb is my first choice :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

@ MzLover3; are there questions we need to answer for appeals?

from regular mail …

I think they are inviting what they called ‘high-achieving’ applicants …
even those getting the invitation is not a sure in
and not getting in does not mean you are rejected either …

all decision on UCSB will be announced on the web on March 21 …

Is this only for people who live in the US or have internationals been invited before?
