I was recently accepted to UCSB SERA for 2019. I was wondering if anybody has participated in the program before, and what the experience was like (was the research done any meaningful?)
I received my acceptance letter as well today! Is there anyone who can attest to the program’s curriculum? I’ve heard that RMP is better, and that SERA isn’t all that special.
when did you guys submit your application for UCSB SERA?
@AV2020 I submitted my application in mid-February… they said it would take a month for my admissions decision, but I got it in less time. I highly recommend you apply, as you’ve still got time (until April 15th I think) and admissions are rolling.
Did u guys accept the RMP program for this summer, it says we have 5 days to accept. I am waiting decisions for some other programs as well
I’m not sure about RMP as I didn’t apply. I accepted for SERA, but if I get into another program (fingers crossed COSMOS) then I will drop SERA.
@didibear21 , i applied to SERA as well and got accepted some of my program decisions will come first week of April. looks like we need to make payments in the next few days. and there is cancellation feed of almost $2K
@AV2020 I know the cancellation fee is quite large 
I want to get into COSMOS and would most likely drop SERA but I don’t want to pay such a large amount of money.
My son submitted the application at about 11:00pm on 3/15. But he did not get the application for scholarship link until early this morning. It asked to email parents’ W2 forms for 2017 and 2018 and tax form for 2017. Is it safe to email these documents? Any input or help is greatly appreciated.
I am assuming its safe, i have known kids attend this program earlier as well

Hey I submitted my application like 1 week ago but I haven’t got any update yet. Do you think I have a chance? I think my application was pretty good but my GPA isn’t above a 4.15 ?. Also how were you feeling as you were waiting for your reply?

hey @AV2020 ! I didn’t get into COSMOS so I’ll be attending SERA this summer. As for you, congrats! What campus and cluster did you get into?
@bigjimmy don’t worry about how long it is taking! they say decisions come out in a month from when you first apply but it actually took only 3 weeks for me.
Also, don’t worry too much about your GPA. The admissions committee will see your transcript. My GPA wasn’t above 4.15 (it was 4.0 UW), and I got in. Also, you said your app was pretty good so you should focus on that instead. 
I wasn’t really feeling anything as I waited. I was hoping to get into COSMOS instead, as that was my #1 choice for a summer program. I applied to SERA due a person telling me about her RMP experience and how there was a new program called SERA that UCSB was conducting.
Son got into Sera program and was looking for past experiences on here. I think it’s a relatively new program because RMP was so competitive. It says that they give college credit for Sera which may be the reason it’s so expensive.
@az2004 Rmp is a great program. Sera is new, shorter and not very well known. The programs are different so don’t expect RMP quality. If you have an acceptance from any other well known program, I suggest you take that.
I recently enrolled in the 2019 Sera program. I don’t really know that much about it. Has anyone heard anything about past experiences with the program? Also, is anyone else on this thread planning on attending the program this summer?
I am enrolled in the program as well! I am in the marine biology research track.
