what are your schedules for the day? I'm still trying to decide. Here's what i got so far.

9 am- Freshmen How to Succeed in Your First Year
10 am- Pre-law advising session
11 am- maybe college of letters and science (but what is the one with video overflow?)
12 pm- financial aid presentation
1 pm- (1:30 davidson library tour)
2 pm- housing tour
3pm- maybe just a campus tour

I am going as an admitted freshmen. Is there anything else that i should do?

Okay so someone said that they let you go into the Dorms during spring insight. Does this occur during the “housing overview” or is it separate from the “talks” that they offer?

there is a housing overview session which is basically a general overview of all the dorms, i went to that last year and it isnt anyhting new that you can find online

there are housing tours that go through the dorms individually, i recomend those because you actually see the dorms when you do that (if they are still doing that this year)

what i recommend doing: see if you have cell phone reception!! tmobile does not do very well unless you put your phone next to the window, just something to consider…

the dorm tours are separate- the campus tour is a general tour that takes you all around campus whereas there are separate tours for each dorm. they’re very chaotic because everyone wants to see each dorm. i had to wait in a huge line to see certain dorms.

i’m not entirely sure, but i think there were three different places to go for dorm tours. there was a grouping by the lagoon to see san nic, anacapa, santa cruz, santa rosa, and san migel for sure. i’m almost positive there were tours for santa catalina at santa catalina. as far as san raf and manzinita go, i never toured either, but i bet there will be tents or something nearby for those tours.

So to get a tour of the specific dorms we probably have to go in front of that dorm or will there be one giant area with tents that’ll have representatives from each?

I’m going to UCSD that day… still don’t understand why they made them on the same day.
Anyways, does anyone know what will happen at the Scholar’s Reception for Regent’s scholars?

in regards to the dorm tours, i was just informed by email that the school is not having it this year. (see last paragraph in email)

Dear Resident,

We hope that your Spring Break was an opportunity to renew your energy and that you are refreshed and ready for your new quarter!

We are nearing the end of this academic year, and a new freshman class will be embarking on their first year this fall. The UCSB Admissions Department has worked diligently to admit well qualified, outstanding students to the University for the upcoming academic year. These newly admitted students are at an exciting point in their college career: deciding which college or university is the best fit for them.

In light of this weighty decision, UCSB created a day specifically for prospective students to visit the campus to help decide if they want to make this their home for the next four years! As many of you might recall from last year when you were deciding on a college, Spring Insight allows students and family members to see what, exactly, UCSB is about. This Saturday, April 4th, several thousand people will descend upon our beautiful campus; they will explore academic departments, take tours of the campus, and visit our Housing Fair to get a first hand look at the UCSB experience.

There will be lots of activity happening on our campus during this day. In order to maintain your privacy, we will keep the residence hall doors locked throughout the day, so please remember to keep your keys on hand so you can enter the building. While we will not be offering tours of the residence halls, we encourage you to help create a memorable experience for prospective students by working with student clubs and organizations to highlight our campus! We want to ensure that the incoming students leave after Spring Insight confident in their choice of UCSB as their future home!

Sincerely,

The Office of Residential Life

Spring Insight Committee

however, if some of you are interested, i am willing to give a small tour of my own dorm Santa Cruz. just respond here on this thread and i’ll see if we can meet somewhere or something
