I’m trying to decide between the two and having a difficult time. Any thoughts you have would be incredibly helpful.
For reference:
- I’m Catholic and go to a Jesuit high school
- I’m OOS, so UCSB is 65k
- I got 40k in scholarships to LMU, so cost is 30k
- I much prefer LA
- I’m a pretty social person, but I know both have pretty good student life
I know it sounds stupid, but I’m just worried about the perceived reputation of LMU vs. UCSB.
Are you planning to go to med or law school? Can you afford both options without loans?
@albertsax I am planning on attending law school and can afford both schools without loans or financial strain on my family.
@USCkid19 . . . Wouldn’t the Jesuits demand that you attend LMU? Just kidding. . .but regardless, LMU seems to be the obvious choice.

I’ve never heard that UCSB is thought of higher than LMU…I don’t think reputation is really a factor here, so it sounds like you have your choice!
paying OOS rates for UCSB is a total waste
If you choose LMU, would the $140k from the lower price be available for law school costs?
