USC or UCSB?

Hey Everyone,

I’m deciding whether to attend UCSB (for Fall 2016) or USC (for Spring 2017). I’m majoring in philosophy at UCSB and philosophy, politics, and law at USC. I’m going into college with a Pre-Law Emphasis, but I’m not sure which school is a better value choice for me. I have a huge financial restraint on where I choose to go to college. My dad is influencing me to go to UCSB, but I would love to be a Trojan and enjoy the opportunity at USC. What is the better value option, for a future Law School Student, USC or UCSB?

Did you get any financial aid from either school? What will be your total costs for each school?

If your dad is favoring UCSB because of the lower costs, is he willing to pay the higher costs at USC or will you have to make up the difference in loans?

For a future law student, the most important factors are LSAT score and undergrad GPA, so attending USC or UCSB won’t make much difference (if any at all).

You realize USC tuition including room and board is $70k a year right? I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are willing to pay the high price. USC is now the number 1 most expensive private university in the country.
