Hello!
So I’ve committed to UC Davis already, but yesterday I was accepted off the UC Santa Barbara waitlist.
At first, I wasn’t interested in UC Davis at all, but after visiting the campus, talking to students, and finding a roommate, I’ve come to love it. I visited Santa Barbara while I was completing my applications and loved the environment and the campus vibe. I’m currently admitted to both schools as an English major, but I plan to switch to Political Science. I’d also be on the pre-law track.
Which of these two schools would you say is better for pre-law?
Would you say there’s really any difference in prestige between UCSB and UCD?
I know that Davis is probably better for PoliSci, since it’s right next to Sacramento.
Law school admissions are based largely on your LSAT score and GPA. The better school is the one where you think you will be more comfortable and earn a higher GPA.
Davis has a law school, which could be a potential plus for a pre-law student. The law school probably sponsors public events, like lectures and conferences, that undergrads could attend to get some exposure to legal issues.
No.
Davis operates the University of California Center Sacramento:
The Center is open to all UC students, including those from UCSB, but probably gets particularly strong participation from Davis students. My guess is that Davis will continue to expand its presence in Sacramento in the future. http://uccs.ucdavis.edu/about-uccs
