UCSB vs. UCI business

So I have been accepted to both UCSB and UCI. I am just trying to figure out which university would be better for me if I want to major in business (preferably accounting or finance).
At UCSB I was accepted as a pre-business economics & accounting major, but at UCI I was accepted as undecided.

Please help I am so confused!

I would say that UCSB offers enough in the way of accounting courses if that’s what you choose to pursue, but if you’re looking into finance, you won’t find too many finance [courses here](<a href=“UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Economics”>UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Economics). (I can only think of five - ECON 134A, 134B, 130, 181 and 187. And I know that some of them are only offered once a year.) If you find that accounting is something you like, there are a good number of avenues for pursuing your interests in that, like the [Accounting Association](http://www.econ.ucsb.edu/~aawww/aaonline/).

I’m a business econ major, and I know a few people who have had finance internships during their time here, so I certainly wouldn’t say it’s impossible to pursue a career in that after studying at UCSB. There’s also a [finance club](http://www.sbfinanceconnection.com/index.php) that you’ll hear announcements from somewhat regularly once you start taking upper-division econ classes (in my experience) - they bring in guest speakers and stuff like that.

Looking at [UCI’s catalog](<a href=“UCI General Catalogue Archives”>UCI General Catalogue Archives), it seems like they offer more courses about management. I don’t know how difficult it is to get into UCI’s business program (I believe it’s pretty small, though), so I don’t know how realistic it is to try to declare a business major there.

Oh, and though I linked to those course catalogs, I should note that UCSB and UCI don’t necessarily offer every single course in there on a regular basis.

They are both fine. UCSB doesn’t require Calculus 1 and 2 for their economics and accounting – they offer Business Calculus which is calculus without the trigonometry and in-depth calculus. If you go to UCI then you have to take Calculus 1 for Business Administration (while minoring in Accounting).

Job opportunity is the same for both school, work experience > the school ranking
It’s who you know that will get you a job, not what school you went to.

Hi,
I am debating between UCI and UCSB as well. I have the same situation as you, I applied as Business Administration, but got in undeclared for UCI. I know this discussion is 4 years old, but I am wondering which did you end up choosing?
