UCSB vs. UCI vs. NYU

I can't really find that much information about the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at UCSB, and I haven't really looked into UCI, because I'm not all that inclined to going there as it is so close to home and Irvine is a boring city.
I want to major in either sociology or international relations. Maybe even political science, although I prefer the other two majors. I would like to go to a good law school after undergrad. Which school is the best for this area of study?
I've also been accepted into NYU, to the Gallatin School if anyone wants to defend that school, despite the fact that its so far away from home (I love California) and is double the price.
I would like some concrete proof to show my parents about UCSB being a better school to go than UCI, academics-wise. I would stay on campus either way, and I'm not all that inclined to the party scene even though I make friends pretty easily, so I'm not worried about the social life.

It would be hard to convince them that UCSB is better academically than UCI because
-UCI is harder to get into
-UCI has a medical and law school while UCSB does not
-UCSB has a bad reputation due to drug use in the area (which I think is unjustified)

NYU, I know little about, but that would be a good opportunity, but it would also be very expensive. I’ve known a lot of people who dropped out of NYU.

NYU is almost the polar opposite of Irvine.

If you like California and if you have any inclination to attend a school with a collegiate sort of campus, then going to NYU would be a huge mistake.

There are many posts on this website from students claiming that NYU was not at all what they expected.

I think UCSB is ranked higher than Irvine.

Well, for one, that was only recently that UCSB was ranked higher than UCI, and second, can’t really depend entirely on the ranking that follows a school especially when UCI and UCSD differ by one number.

just a heads up, UCSB is ranked more or less identically to irvine(was below irvine last year but above irvine by one spot this year)

I think UCI will pull ahead of USB in the future due to their new, law, business… well basically everything. UCI is Under Construction Indefinitely, and it’s new programs are really competitive to get into right now.

FYI according to US news, UCD>UCSB>UCI.

last year the order was UCI>UCD>UCSB though… ehh easy come easy go.
