UCSB vs UCSD

^It’s really close to the beach. You could walk to it (or take the bus). The weather is as good as it gets, the campus is safe, the housing and food are pretty dang good, the professors tend to be good on average, it’s easy to change majors if you wanted to. On the downside, it’s not in a college town kind of environment where everything is really close by so you’ll need public transportation or a car to get anywhere (other than the beach). There’s not much partying on campus, but I’m sure you can easily find stuff off campus. Also, some people may say the students are “ugly and boring”, but that’s just relative to what you’re expecting. There’s people of all types at UCSD.

yes, it’s true UCSD has all types of people, but the majority of them are not attractive and outgoing as other UC’s

I’m not about to base my schooling choice on whether or not the people are attractive or not. I’m not much of a party goer now so that aspect of it won’t be such a big deal. Just if it’s a boring place to be that doesn’t sound too fun.

Boring is relative. Some people think D&D is boring while others think it’s fun. Some people think sports are boring while others think they’re fun. What are some things that you find fun?

lol how do you generalize that a school of over 20,00 is ugly? makes no sense if you ask me.

lol, you guys ever heard of the trition eye?

^ yes but still. i just don’t see how such a large number of ugly people could gravitate to one place so randomly.

^I find it strange as well. I mean let me just be 100% honest here. The average person at UCSD is probably less physically attractive than the average person at other UCs. It doesn’t mean I’d call the average student at UCSD ugly, but strictly less physically attractive. But really, attractiveness encompasses a lot more than just looks. There are a lot of girls at UCSD that although don’t look like Kim Kardashian are incredibly smart and incredibly attractive once you get to know them. I’d take smart and sweet over stupid and fake any day. And once again, ugly is relative just like boring is. Or I could just say hot girls are stupid, so that’s why there aren’t any at UCSD. Ha ha.

I was in yearbook and volleyball at school… I like to wakeboard and horseback ride

^Well, I did IM volleyball last year and I know a girl on the equestrian team. And of course UCSD is close to the beach. I’m sure that doesn’t differ much from UCSB though. If you haven’t already, definitely visit both campuses. That will give you a much better idea of where you want to go.

You’d be going to another college to party, not to “have fun”. I hope for your sake that getting drunk is not your definition of “having fun”…

There are fraternities and sororities one can join at UCSD if one really wants the party scene. “Fun” (as you define it) is not handed to you on a silver platter at UCSD.
