im all confused about this may 16th event. is it just for the summer transitions program?

i was able to register for summer classes...anyone else? there was one class i couldn't get into. i e-mailed my advisor about it because she said that i should be able to add any class so long as it wasn't full - haven't heard back from her yet. it really sucks because as soon as i was able to log into GOLD most of the classes were full.

really you added your classes already?? What classes are you taking? I was told by my advisor not to register for classes until I had an advising session on what I need to take.

Adam48- Yeah I wanted to take that writing class since its basically the only prereq that I need before upper division, but it also states that you don't need to have that course completed to declare your major. I don't think ill add any classes until I talk to the advisor on the 16th to see what I can take.

does anyone know how to sign up for classes right now? i think i already know what i have to take and the advisor said it was ok. I live about 100 away from sb so the drive shouldn't be too long from sb, just don't think it necessary if i already know what i have to take for summer and if i'm going to get the same info on orientation anyways?

I was told you had to wait until after the transitions session and meet with a councilor. I'm shocked that there are people here who have already signed up for classes. I hope all the classes are not full. I only need one class before my major prep courses are complete and I couldn't take that class at SMC. I'm going on the 16th, but I wonder what kind of a class I'm going to end up with. Has anyone gotten their Financial Aid package yet for summer?

I tried adding the pre req class that I need.. I couldn't, it's all full.

I attempted to add a prereq writing class, but for some reason it says that I haven’t fulfilled the prereqs for the class. Does anyone else get this? It says its an open course for anyone and it is needed for my pre major, but it blocks me from adding.

My advisor said that i will need to show up for the transfer day so I can be added to the waitlist....=/

I got the same thing you did busyeconSB...I guess I'll figure it out down there on the 16th

i didn't get my financial aid package or info for summer either, hopefully its soon

I called UCSB's writing dept. and they told me I had to fax them my unofficial transcripts to release the restriction. It turns out that when you fax your transcripts to your advisor it doesn't circulate to other parts of the campus. It only goes to your advisor. Once I sent in my transcript the restriction was released and I was able to add my writing for bus. econ class. SUCCESS!!!

are you going to session A? it looked like that writing class was already full for session B

Yah, I decided its best to get it out of the way. I'm still thinking about session B for another class though, but I didn't see anything except the upper division stuff.

yeah like econ 100A i think it was?...i wonder if they would let us take that if all or pre-req's are done

So what happens if all the classes are full for summer??? They wouldn't let you take summer session??? haha

i was wondering that too lol...i want to go regardless and at least clear up some units so i can take less during the year

You would have to enroll in *** 101. This is a three part course that ends in September. It involves you showing up to add a class in session A, B, and C only to find 30 other people trying to add the same course. If some how you don't win the battle royal you will see yourself to the nearest beach and enjoy yourself until the end of summer.

maybe they have a spot reserved for transfers

If all the pre req classes are full..then you're screwed..joke! Kidding aside, if all the classes are full, like in my case, I might end up taking elective classes that are offered for summer. Start thinking about choosing a minor then...=/

wow cheers to UCSB dept advisors... i faxed them my transcripts late last night and when i woke up this morning i had e-mails from each of them saying my holds were cleared
