haha thats what im thinking too.. santa ynez with 5 meal plan at carrillo

hey guyss I'm still thinking about whether I want to go to SD or SB for communications. I was wondering if most of you guys are gonna dorm or live in apartmentss?

^^^^prob univ owned apts

I plan on dorming

californialife...i sent you a friend thing on facebook too

I just accepted :)

i plan on dorming crosses fingers

those who are thinking about living in residence halls: do you prefer single, double, or the triple occupancy?

definitely dorming, i'm use to having my own own room but i think its probably better to have a roommate? perhaps if you hang with them you'll make more friends? starberryjam, if i got into ucsd i would be in the same situation as you as far as majors.

I prefer double, but I don't really know all that much about triples. Are triples 3 students living in a double style dorm to save on costs?

calvinator,

Yep. You share a room with 3 people in a room that rooms usually 2 people. The rooms all have bunk beds in them anyway.

Depending on which mealplan you go with, the prices for a 2 person room is around $11,000 and $9000 for 3 people.

So how many people usually share a bathroom in the dorms?

From what I understand, they have floor bathroom setups and they have jack and jill setups. The jack and jill setup is when two dorms share one bathroom in between them.

i just got my summer housing contract did anyone else get theirs already?

^^^

I just faxed my summer housing contract, 2 bedrooms/4 occupants

im going to fax mine when i get home...same thing 2 bed/4 occ

i just got mine, 1 bed room 2 people, still having second thoughts about dorming though for summer.

I'm strongly considering doing the summer transition program. I have too many questions that I am afraid of screwing myself over. Would financial aid be able to cover it all? For the housing, how long in between the time we end summer and start fall? I don't want to be kicked out of the housing and be forced to move in 1 or 2 weeks later. I'd rather just move my stuff over the same day I am supposed to move out from summer housing and start living in the apartments for fall. Know what I mean?

^^^ the last day of summer for session B is sept 12, move in day is the 20th for the fall semester, i know that you can leave your stuff in your new room assignment if you are in session B, i dont think that you can request the same room though...as far as financial aid im not sure...i didnt even get any for the fall so i have absolutely no idea...its a good idea i think though...meet some new people, you get one on one advising with your dept advisors lots of good stuff.... i know that they do special exceptions for short stay housing that you can request for that week if you need to...info for that is on the housing page somewhere

Dang... I knew it. I'll be homeless for 8 days >_< I could move back home for those 8 days. It will just be a pain to drive back home then drive back. It costs $60 back and forth. I wonder if they would let me stay in the new housing for that 8 days.

I seriously cannot decide between ucsb and ucsd!!! Some people tell me how boring UCSD is but how it's highly respectable academically..while UCSB has a beautiful campus good program but is just notorious for partyinngg.
