UCSC AP test policy

Does anyone know if UCSC requires students to take any AP tests that they said they would on the application?

nope they don't care

Thx.

Also, if we do pass the AP tests, can we still choose to take the courses over again for actual college credit?

the point of taking an AP test is to show that you know the material on a college level, which eliminates your need to take the class in college, because they give you credit for passing the test. Most colleges will accept 3's and above.

I know that; however, in my case, I plan on going to a professional school after college, and I know that most of them don't accept college credit from an AP exam.

^ I'm wondering the same thing.

"I know that; however, in my case, I plan on going to a professional school after college, and I know that most of them don't accept college credit from an AP exam."

Then obviously you have to take the class over if they don't accept it.

I get that part; my question is: will UCSC allow me to do that? Will they allow me to get credit for something twice?

Yes, you can do that.

OK, yeah, I understand what you're asking now.

They'll let you take it over, but you won't get double credit or "credit for something twice". Basically it's like taking a class over in high school, except not because you failed, just in this case it's so the school will know that you took the class in college, and you'll also have a substantial letter grade in the class.

So if you want to pay the extra $$ for it, (which I'm sure they don't mind getting) go ahead and do it.
