Ok so I have a few questions? I was rejected from UCSC this morning. My UC GPA was a 3.3 and my sat is 1510/1600. H

  1. Do u think I have a chance at a succesful appeal?
    My GPA improved by 1.1 in my first semester senior year. From 3.3 to 4.4. I am taking 4 APS senior year, and I am on track for about a 4.3 or 4.4 also for second semester.
  2. Has anyone ever appealed successfully or know someone who has? For a UC? How about any other schools?
  3. Does anyone have any stats on how often an appeal is successful for UCSC? Or UCs in general?

Does anyone know what happens if you are on the waitlist, send an appeal and it is denied? Do you remain on the waitlist or does the denial of the appeal remove you entirely from consideration? Just wondering whether there is risk in appealing just to show a slight uptick in grades on a relatively low GPA student and submit a great letter of recommendation, versus just staying on wait list and hoping odds are in our favor. (mom writing here, of course)

With that good of an upward trend, yes you have a chance.

Does anyone know if all the UCSC appeal decisions release on April 21st at the same time? Or is it rolling? If it’s rolling, when do the decisions come in?

I successfully appealed back in 2012 and got in with improvements(but not a much as yours), graduating in bioengineering this spring. Doesn’t hurt to try.

i have appealed and was wondering if I have a chance to get into UCSC for Comp sci? My weighted GPA for 1st sem senior year is 3.83, bt I got a 24 on the ACT… My UC GPA is a 3.5… Im hella nervous for my appeal decision

@dk19 I think your chance is slim to be honest, but you do still you have a chance. And I don’t know what classes you’re taking or your personal statements so I can’t really make a judgement.

Well I feel it was different for me but…I was waitlisted and I appealed. Today I was accepted off the waitlist because of my appeal. So there is a chance

[I am on the waitlist and I also sent in a letter of appeal]
Today I received a “waitlist status update” email and it had said that I was not offered admission from the waitlist today, but that I am still on it. Two kids at my school received “Appeal Response” emails today and got accepted. Do you think my appeal was denied or do you think my appeal response just hasn’t been sent to me yet?

I also haven’t received anything and I know today is the deadline for notification of appeals. Is this an indication that the appeal didn’t work since others have known since last night???

Just got my admittance from an appeal. I got an email saying I wasn’t in the group of waitlisted students that got in yesterday. But about 1 hour ago, I got an e-mail saying my appeal was accepted.

Stats:
3.7 UC GPA / 4.4 UC GPA SENIOR YEAR
I wrote my appeal about the death of my parent in my junior year

I got my appeal acceptance yesterday and I am super excited!! I wrote my appeal about my GPA bump and my connection to a professor at the school

I recieved my transfer appeal decision last night for computer science. I was accepted :).
