UCSC has similar SATs to UCSB

1050-1280 vs 1070-1300...only 20 points!

UCSC is improving and UCSB... may be declining??

Watchout for UCSC in the top 50 GAUCHOS!!!

Watchout for UCSC in the top 50 GAUCHOS!!!

The SAT scores of the students accepted alone does not determine a school's rank.

Note that the GPA of the students accepted vary very significantly. According to Princeton Review, UCSC's average GPA was 3.46. UCSB's average GPA was 3.76.

There are a lot of other factors that have to be considered when determine a "rank" including the faculty, facilities,... etc...

In fact UCSC has higher SAts than UCDavis. UCdavis is consider more prestigious than UCSB. Considering all things UCSB, UCSC, UCD, UCI are consider peer schools. The annual rank on USnews is not releveant as they change each year. if you rmemeber carefully, UCSB was not always in top 50 in rank but sometimes they are sometimes not. As is UCSC

Huh? To the best of my knowledge and my US News collection, UCSB has been in the top 50 consistently for the last few years.

Show me a year that UCSB wasn't in the top 50 according to US News.

i think it wasnt in the top 50 in 2002 or 2003.

According to Princeton Review (review.com), the UCSC average SAT score was 1137. Compare that to UC Davis at 1170 and UCSB at 1182.

I don't know what math you're using, but 1170 is definitely higher than 1137.

this is from the 2006 US news in the bookstores now!

stop acting stupid and using old data.

In the 2002 rank, UCSB was 48th and in the 2003 rank, UCSB was 47th.

Are there any more lies that I have to uncover? Or will that be all....

link??

my data is in bookstores right now

yours is gone and is consider history unitl proven with link

Wow, I thought I was rankings-obsessed. Generally, UCSC is not considered to be in the same cohort as school as the middling UCs. But when you're not desperate just to get into Riverside, people tend to pick the atmosphere they like the best. If you're a huge hippie but don't want huge parties, SC is the way to go. If you want to do something like Physics, UCSB is the way to go. If you just want to smoke a lot of pot, either would probably do, although SC has the edge in that department.

For the SAT scores, I would like to revise what I put down, as the Princeton Review scores are lower than the official University of California scores.

Davis SAT1 scores for 2005 admits is 1248. Santa Barbara SAT1 scores for 2005 admits is 1244. Santa Cruz is 1198. Based on this information, UCSC still has the lowest SAT score.

I am relatively sure that the University Of California site is the most reputible. Feast your eyes on the following link if you would like to check it out for yourself. http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2005/freshman_admit_profile_2005.pdf

you hvae not seen the latest USNews ranking??

You will see that UCDavis has lower SATs than UCSB and UCSC.

Until then... keep thinking UCdavis has higher SATs than UCSC

Generally speaking, I don't really care too much for ranks. However, "UCSCrules" happens to be spreading around false information which I feel compelled to correct.

I am not lying. The new 2006 USnews clearly states UCSC SAT score as higher htan UCdavis. Anyone who has seen it will agree and confirm this fact.

US News is using the 25% percentile and the 75% percentile to determine the scores.

now are you arguing that 25-75 is not valid just because UCSC is higher than UCDavis in that measure??

It's a b1tch when a reputable magazine like USnews prints information like that. deal with it

WHy would i transfer to UCSB when I turn it down for UCSC already?

Maybe you should transfer to UCI so you will feel better and secured!!!

nope got into UCSB

first school i got acceptance letter from.

you wont transfer to UCI becuz they already reject you for freshmen year!!! call it china but you are not qualified!!

Gauchos- looks like Santa Cruz is better than Harvard, Princeton, Yale, heck all the ivies combined! Read the latest issue....... US News printed it! Look, just 'cause you got rejected at SB, Davis and UCI doesn't mean you have to embarrass your banana slugs.....Yes, UCSC is on the way up, but stop trying to make a community college look as if it were Oxford.

UCI has an accounting minor offer by management school at UCI.which is veyr useful if u wanna job in irvine or la

CAL> UCLA> UCSD > UCI > UCSB = UCSC =UCD > UCR > UCM
