Out of 100 points. Are the academics really better? Berkeley is rated in the upper 80s. Stanford at 99 for reference. Im trying to decide between schools and am looking to get the best academic experience possible. PLEASE HALP

This is the first time I’ve heard of UCSC being ranked higher than UCSB. I don’t think many people take Princeton Review academic ratings too seriously. Every ranking I’ve seen has UCSB well ahead of UCSC. If you’re big on rankings, you should pay more attention to the US News rankings, they tend to be trusted by most people.

The usnews rankings if formulated by a wide criteria. Including alumni donations, acceptance rate, class size etc. Im just worried about academics. To be clear its academic RATING out of 100 points

The Princeton Review rankings are based on student surveys so they are even less credible. UCLA has a lower score than UCSC too. I wouldn’t make a decision on a school because it scores 2/100 points higher on some obscurely created score.

Ok so theyre about equal, im just trying to make sure im not missing out on anything. College choice is a decision im gonna have to live with for the rest of my life.

I want your cool job, I want to be a fish tank cleaner …

Its tough man, not everyone is cut out for this line of work.

I think one of the most non-biased ways of creating a “rank” is to look at the academic qualifications of enrolled students for the various UCs. I made such a list here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/743629-uc-ranking-3.html#post8469772

You can see that my list naturally falls in line with what people consider to be the tiers of the UC system.
