Have any OOS’ers received info yet about receiving a merit scholarship? The official admission packet came yesterday & said that we would hear by Mar. 31.

My S got waitlisted CS- UCGPA 3.9 and SAT 1450. is there a separate thread for waitlist tracking?

Congratulations to all the students who
Got acceptance letter! Your hard work paid off!

Any information on the environmental studies here I’m trying to see what school will be my best fit?

Dang! Then maybe I just barely got into UCSC for computer science. I know other things are considered besides grades, but my GPA and SAT score aren’t much higher. I just sent in my SIR and paid a deposit for housing, so, for now I’m a “Slug”. Waitlisted for UCSD, if I get an offer off the waitlist, I might go there. UCSC location to silicon valley might present more opportunities for internships and job offers, so I’ll have to give it serious thought.

@Melly02forlife The program at UCSC for Environmental Studies is phenomenal! I am hoping to transfer into the program (I’m applying in the Fall) and can tell you that it is definitely worth considering. What other schools are you looking into? The only other UCs that I see have comparable programs would be UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and maybe UC Santa Barbara.

My daughter was accepted in mid February into biomolecular engineering. And bioinformatics. She did not receive an invitation for the college scholars program- would that have come with her acceptance, or might it still be offered?

Hey everyone!
I have a friend who was admitted as a transfer for this fall. I was wondering if UCSC had classes that are survey courses.

As a community college student, I took a concurrent class at UC Berkeley last semester and it was a survey course that we needed to get iClickers for. I don’t need the clicker anymore and if my friend picks UCSC (over CAL - she got into both) and they use the clickers in some of the courses (Poli Sci) then I would give her the clicker.
I don’t know anyone who currently attends UCSC to ask so I’m asking here.

Thanks!

My son was waitlisted for UCSC Computer Science, but it looks like they are taking people of the waitlist because he was accepted just this week. I’d say check your UCSC portal again if you were waitlisted.

My daughter got in off of the waitlist today.

Bio major
In state
SAT 1540
UCGPA 3.8 Not sure UCR or UCSC ? Which one is better for bio major?

I found this report a while back (which was awfully difficult to find online using the search engine for some reason) so if anyone is curious to look at stats for each major/department for the past years (applicants, admits, rejects, SIRed, enrolled, ethnicity, etc.) then here is the link:

https://mediafiles.ucsc.edu/iraps/admissions/frosh-admissions-reports-2014-2019.pdf

The numbers are really interesting, all categorized per year since 2014. It is getting significantly harder to get into certain majors such as engineering. You can clearly see that UCSC is becoming more selective.
Here is UCSC’s profile report from 2018:

recently got off the waitlist for robotics ( let me know if you know someone who majors in it, kinda rare)
GPA: 3.9
Sat: 1300

Just got in for Computer science but Its kind of far, do you know anyway I can go home on the weekends and still attend ucsc

Hello guys, I got accepted Into UCSC for computer science, but after 2 years are u allowed to transfer to another UC,Please let me know because I don’t want to be far from home for 4 years

I would suggest you do some research and also ask UCR admissions regarding intercampus transfers (junior level status).
Info on preparing to transfer to a UC can be found here:
https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/admission-requirements/transfer-requirements/preparing-to-transfer/other-types-of-transfers.html

UCR specific transfer information:
https://www.ucr.edu/academics/undergraduate-majors#marlan_and_rosemary_bourns_college_of_engineering_bcoe

Also consider which classes are transferable vs if you were applying again as a junior college transfer. A list of UC/CS to UCR transferable classes is shown here:
https://student.engr.ucr.edu/majors/transferable-courses

Thank u For all of this great information, also what gpa will I need to transfer to UCSC TO UCR?
