-I want to drop AP Calc AB
I’m already taking another AP math class and AP lit so I don’t want to overwhelm myself; in place of Calc I plan to TA
-acceptances for UCSC come out March 15 and I’m pretty confident that I’ll get accepted
I have a 4.25 Academic GPA and a 1440 SAT
-I’m totally gonna fail calc, so i feel like it’ll better better to drop before I fail, right?? (I got a B last semester but BARELY; A’s in all my other classes)
-im a bio major
-i dropped AP Physics earlier this yea and informed UC admissions, but that drop hasn’t really seemed to affect my admissions into other UC’s like UCI
-what do I do??? do I wait until i get accepted before I drop; do I drop now?? Will they really CARE? (I’ll get all A’s in every class besides Calc)
Check the policies at the schools where you’ve applied. I know someone accepted to a national university this year. The school was very clear and direct in the acceptance letter that a change in schedule would be a material change in the application and would generate a review. I’m not sure, though, if this is a policy general to most schools. So please don’t take it as something applying to your situation (and your schools) but just something to be aware of, and careful about. Good luck!
As to whether they will care, probably only the UC adcoms can answer that. It does sound to me like there is legitimate reason to question whether you are ready for UC level academics. First you dropped Physics, now Calculus. The issue is likely not one of capability, but you are either not studying enough for these classes or have not learned effective study habits.
is anyone having the same issue that i am? p.s. i called UCI and they said dropping a class wouldn’t result in a rescinded admission, so im assuming it wouldn’t be nearly as big of a deal for UCSC
I’m having this problem too - I want to drop AP Statistics (wasn’t supposed to even be in the class in the first place, but our school has pretty… terrible GCs) but I can’t find any solid info on which one is worse (dropping or failing). UCLA didn’t want to answer any hypotheticals and I think UCSD said they can’t say anything until later when they see your second semester transcript. What are you going to do?
honestly i decided to just take the L and stay in the class. my principal made it way too hard for me to drop the class anyways; she said it was too late in the year! best of luck! let me know how things go for you!
