Urgent question about dropping classes during senior year. (please help!)

Well, I'm currently a senior in high school, with a "reach" in getting into LA and Berkely, but a fair chance at San Diego.

However, I took this year AP physics. It was a disaster (I knew i wasnt a math or science person but i took it anywaze).

As a result I've recieved 3 C's out of 7 classes - AP physics, AP statistics, and AP music theory. Mainly because of the workload i could not keep up with AP physics (I've never recieved a "C" before in any class).

Now, as in second semester, I am in a dillema. If I were to dropp AP physics, i know i would have much easier time getting good grades (maybe even straight A's), even with time to play. :)

But i am afraid that dropping this class would look VERY bad for the UCs and I am afriad they might recind my acceptances (assuming i get in)

So my question is, should I drop AP physics and do very well in my other classes while having FUN in my senior year? - and still keep my acceptance

OR

Should I keep physics, stumble and maybe recieve just barley better grades, have NO fun, and stress myself out ... to keep my acceptances?

WHAT DO I DO? PLEASE HELP!

first, tell me what your GPA for first semester was. (It needs to be 3.0 or greater)
I'd call the UC's to see what their policy on dropping is.

Weighted or unweighted?

I'm not so sure about AP music theory - I might have gotten an B or C (my teachers gonna tell me tom)

Weighted: first sem IF B in music theory - 3.57
IF C in music theory - 3.42

unweighted: first sem if B in music theory - 3.0
unweighted: first sem if C in music theory - 2.8 (T_T)

And... also, i know that UCs wont look at my first sem grades until the school sends my transcript after second sem - so they would see it as a whole?

if i were to do much better at second sem, when they see my senior year as a whole, wouldn't it be ok?

Well, you better hope that you got a B in music theory, or else your acceptance will be rescinded automatically. (they only care about 3.0 unweighted)

Just say i get much over 3.0 in second sem, increasing my whole senior year to or over 2.8 to 3.0 as a whole.. would that be ok?

oh no.. i worked way too hard for this ...

I always thought it was just 1st semester and 2nd semester, but it may be as a whole. Now, I'm not so sure.

Just to reassure you, if this doesn't work out, you can always transfer from a community college to a UC

Well, I will go tom and beg my teacher for some sympathy IF i got a C. During that time, could you please find about the drop policy and possibly that 3.0 policy? T_T oh.. dammit i.. arrgh

No.. my family is really down right now because my brother had to go to a community college last year. They had high expectations... I had high expectations.

After my brother. I decided i would never go transfer... I work too hard to go down now..

It would crush my parents especially if this happened.

I would call them so that you know exactly waht the policy is. I tried looking on the UC website, but they give really general information. Sorry, I tried to help. Good luck with everything!

thank you very much.

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat..... I'm barely scaped by with a C- in AP Statistics this semester, but my teacher said it's only going to get a lot harder and advised me to drop so not to jeopardize my admission.

Will UCs care if I drop an AP class the 2nd semester? Is it THAT serious?
