UCSC Fall 2018 transfer

Wondering if anyone got in (or heard of anyone) despite not completing every requirement of IGETC, TAG, etc? A professor told me that some of the UCs make exceptions on these if other parts of the student’s academic resume are strong enough. Curious to hear thoughts on this.

@JeanJeanie I know if your major is in the engineering department they recommend you not to even finish it, but if you aren’t part of the department I could imagine it might hurt your chances a little. But this is all speculation and I could be dead wrong.

Admitted this morning! CCC student.
Major: Anthropology
GPA: 3.6
IGETC: Complete
Pre-reqs: Complete
Tag: No
Accepted: SFSU, SJSU, Uc Santa Cruz
Pending: UCD, UCB, UCSB, UCLA, Stanford, Cornell

Still waiting.
Computer Science Major.
GPA: 3.5
Pre Req: will be done by Spring 2018.
IGETC: Not wanted.
Accepted: UCR, UC Merced
Waitlisted: UCSB
Pending: UCI, UCD, UCSD, UCSC

Accepted to UCSB so far

Did anyone get an acceptance package yet

Nope not yet

ugh they’re taking forever LOL

Hey guys this might be a silly question, but someplace on the portal is it suppose to tell you your application is still pending? Under the tab that says application status and info it only says ‘admissions messages, admissions info release, test scores, and withdrawal application’

Hey there, my portal displays the same as your does, however maybe others have it different?

@SunnyDayz mine says the same thing, my portals for all the other UCs say the decision is pending but not for my santa cruz portal.

Thanks guys!

Did anybody else get an email regarding an additional grant solely for the transfer students?

@rkhayd nope. what did it say??

"Dear rkhayd,

Congratulations on your admission to UC Santa Cruz (UCSC)! We are excited to welcome you to our campus community - a place rich in appreciation of diversity, inclusion, and access to higher education. As an entering transfer student, we understand there may be additional financial hurdles associated with transitioning to UCSC, and we invite you to apply for our Transfer Transition Award. This award is valued at $1,200 for fall 2018 and will pay through to your MyUCSC student account if you decide to attend our campus. If you are a financial aid applicant, this award will reduce your loan offer for fall term.

Your potential selection as a recipient is contingent upon you meeting the Conditions of Admission Contract and completion of this brief application. There are a limited number of awards and selection will be prioritized for students with financial need living off-campus. Please express your interest in the Transfer Transition Award by completing the brief online application no later than April 30, 2018."

@JeanJeanie hey I actually got an email yesterday from ucsc asking if I can take caluculas for the global economy major. That is part of the major prep that I did not do for UCSC because my transfer major is global studies for the rest of the UCs that I applied for. I was accepted to UCSB already and I’m more than sure I will be accepted to UCSC based on the conversation I had and my life experience even though I wont attend UCSC since It was my back up to UCSB and im going for UCB.

Did any lower division transfers hear back yet? I applied to UCSC, UCM, UCI, and UCR and haven’t heard anything back yet… starting to get really nervous.

CS Majors, was there an option to choose CS B.A. or CS B.S. on the UC app? I do not rememer

i think there was an option to choose CS B.A. or CS B.S.

@hawaiiangirl UCSC is releasing decisions all the way up until May, as well as those other universities, especially UCI since they started releasing their decisions last week.
