@BIgChina987 back in mid March, I pointed out more than twice that the portal says the decision will be released by end April, still a lot of people keep freaking out about not getting their decision in March. People on that thread need to take a chill pill
@polywoly I also got in for Econ on Monday but did not receive my FA package. Hopefully they don’t take long so I can plan everything out.
so I called FA office and they said that they received my FAFSA day before I got admitted. They checked my information and forwarded my FAFSA to the other person who will review and confirm and said that I will get confirmation within 3-5 days.
right!!, but it is kind of kind of ridiculous that they are releasing it this close to May, I hope everyone gets in!! BTW what community college are you currently at ?
finally accepted!
Major: molecular, cell, and developmental biology
GPA: 3.29
prerequisites all complete
haven’t seen many other bio majors get accepted here, wonder why.
I SIRed yesterday. Has anyone ranked their colleges yet? I made Rachel Carson my #1!
@acer5150 I’m a bio major still no response, when did you get accepted?
got accepted either late last night or this morning
Regarding the SIR, if you accept an acceptance from one UC that you tagged, what happens to the other schools you were accepted to? For example, my daughter’s tag for UCI was accepted, but she wants to keep UCSC as her backup just in case she doesn’t fulfill the tag (misses the GPA requirement). Would sending in the SIR for Irvine automatically erases all the other UC acceptances she has received? Or does the other schools not get eliminated until June 1 or if she tells them she’s not interested?
I read the UC page on “Admissions decisions” and it doesn’t make this clear, other than suggesting a student wait until they hear from all the schools they applied to. But she wants to send in her SIR to Irvine so she can start making arrangements for housing, summer school.
@1jellybeanaway after you SIR to one school, the only way you can switch is cancel the SIR and accept the SIR to another school, but it all need to be before June1
You can SIR to two and then cancel the other right away or shortly after. Sometimes there is a slight overlap needed if you’re awaiting a grade for a final determination regarding a rescind or something similar. But obviously you don’t want to try and game the system.
I’m still waiting for my acceptance and I’m getting a little discouraged… anyone else still waiting? I applied as a sophomore transfer student if that makes any difference.

I had a low GPA but my essays were full of content. I did a year at UCSB then I went to CC because I had a baby in July 2017. Now my son will make UCSC his home until I graduate. Good luck to you all! Keep your hopes high.
Thanks, @nikkitsztsz and @Ohm888. According to the Admissions Decisions page on the UC website, “You may accept admissions to one campus only” which I hope means that you can only have one SIR at a time…but it is very vague about what happens if you change your mind or don’t fulfill your TAG (the second is our concern).
We sent emails to the admissions dept. at both campuses, so will what they say, and if they give the same answer.
I already know the answer as I have it in writing from UCI. You can SIR to two, but they want it fast and sweet, if possible. They know sometimes people are awaiting various things. You lose the deposit though to the one you decline.
I am not sure. I remember for freshmen applicants if you SIR to two school at the same time and they found out, they may cancel your offer.
This is kinda a wrong place to ask but I already emailed UCSC and just waiting for their answers. I am currently not taking any planned courses for this spring. The courses I listed for spring quarter are not major requirements nor IGETC (I already completed IGETC). My proposed major is Applied Linguistics and Multi-linguistics, which my college does not offer any major preparation classes. Also, my college did not offer one of the classes in the list for this spring. I’m currently working full time to support my family financially. I’m really worried that this decision of mine will completely void my admission to UC Santa Cruz. Can you guys let me know what you think??? I’m kinda scared :((((
