sjsu and sfsu are both super good schools! also they are WAY cheaper, i honestly regret not applying to any state schools
@ashyashy I got accepted into SJSU and am exploring the campus while I wait on UCSC. Honestly, it really depends on your major. If you are a CS Major, and would like to work in tech right away - I’d pick SJSU. If you are more into the research and or social life side of things pick a UC. SJSU seems very…corporate and has a huge student body commuting…and UCSC seems more friendly, consistent and academic. (my impressions anyway)
There’s always Spring 2019!
I JUST GOT IN!!! I just randomly checked portal just now and sometime midday around 2-3pm PST I got accepted!!! I had 3 messages in portal!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! There is still hope!
I just got in as well!
Congrats you two!!! What were your majors again?
(nothing yet for me)
PLEASE post stats if you got in
Econ major
GPA: around 3.4-3.5 two years in 4year university OOS one year in CC
essay:I would say average
Thank you!! And here are my stats from what I posted a couple pages back:
I’m a sociology major, transferring from a CA CC. I submitted on the 29th, the second to last day, at like 9pm-ish. I do have an unusual situation; I attended UCSB straight out of high school but I transferred to CC after a year due to my low grades. I did get an F in one course, but I explained about it thoroughly in my essays. Before I enrolled in the CC, though, I took a year off of school in general to recollect myself and get a quick part time job. I even got a special email request around early April from the UC’s asking me to explain my gap/time off of school and what I did during that time frame. It must of been a decent essay/application as a whole, because I got accepted into a Davis for sociology as well (I only applied to these 2 schools). My GPA currently is 3.2
Admitted
GPA: 3.51
Major: Sociology
Checked in the morning and my status was still pending, so it was probably in the afternoon when my portal was updated. I assumed that I was going to be rejected because I was missing like two pre-reqs here, so I’m happy about this
admitted
Gpa 3.36
I’m an international student, studying cc. I have one of prerequisites class maybe fail in this semester, I could not drop it because I’m an international student. do they agree retake in the summer? I’m so neverous of my status.
Is it a prerequisite to your major or a prerequisite in the golden four? (IGETC)
If it is a class to complete your IGETC, they probably will not admit you. If you have achieved your IGETC, then they might be okay with it and let you retake it with them. Also, if it lowers your GPA past the minimum GPA requirement, they might not accept you but I believe you have room to appeal. I’d write Admissions right away.
It is a prerequisite to by my major, my major is mathematics I think I will fail in liner algebra. I already got associate degree in fall 2017. Maybe I will call admission office in tomorrow morning.
rejected lmao i was missing one prereq for psych… but i’m attending UCLA anyway
GPA: 4.0
not impressed by UCSC’s disorganization and lack of clarity. happy for those who got in tho.
@unusually whatttt?? Can’t believe you got rejected with a 4.0 and only one prereq missing! That makes me nervous but congrats on UCLA
Wow! @unusually good luck at UCLA, honestly, still pending on knowing my decision and I’m not impressed either. I think you’ll do very well wherever you go!
Regarding the SIR (wanting to keep options for two schools open just in case the TAG doesn’t get fulfilled): UCSC sent a follow up email saying that yes, you can only submit a SIR to one school at a time, but it won’t cancel your acceptance to another campus. And if you withdraw the first SIR (and lose that money), you can then SIR the second school (and pay for that one). So now it’s a wait and see if my daughter gets at least a C in her troublesome class (which isn’t even required for UCSC and UCI, but needed to be repeated to erase that fail).
BTW, my daughter was accepted to UCSC by April 24th but still hasn’t received an admission package. She seemed to have received hers for UCI and Arizona State within a week or so from hearing from them. UCSC does seem a little scatterbrained (she had to bug them months ago because they hadn’t sent a confirming email about her application while UCI and UC Davis both did).
anybody hear back yet? acceptances or rejections?
Not yet
Ugh
