UCSC or UCR for Philosophy?

I was accepted to both Santa Cruz and Riverside for Philosophy... which school would you say has a better department?

I'm a bit partial to SC just because it's a prettier campus and further from home (I'd stay on-campus, whereas UCR would be a 40-minute commute from home)

But the most important factor is of course the department itself... any ideas?

UCR is #31 in the country and #38 in the world. UCSC is not in the top 50.

UCR is actually very underrated. Go visit the campus.

UCR is good. One of the guys on their faculty got his PHD under John Rawls. And he was one of his three students who helped co-write a book dedicated to him i believe. The other to are Korsgaard, who’s at Harvard, and Herman, who’s at UCLA.
