<p>Hello, I'm an international student and I was accepted to UCSD as an incoming freshman for Fall 2014. Recently, I got an email saying my admission was withdrawn due to a low gpa (<3.0). I understand that this was a provisional admission and I failed to receive the expected grades. However:
a) My school does not have a GPA system. UCSD admission officers said they calculated my GPA according to my Final Exam results. I passes all my exams.
b) I have never in my life averaged below an A. Except of course, my final exams, senior year.
c) I try very hard so people don't assume this is an excuse: the reason I scored less was because I was in a major car accident beginning of senior year. I was bed-ridden for 2 months with a ruptured spleen and several broken bones. I then had 6 months of physical therapy, as well as a few weeks of psychological therapy to help cope with my accident. I missed a lot of days at school and as a result, suffered academically. </p>
<p>I did mention all this in my UC application. I spoke to an admissions officer and she advised I appeal the cancellation of admission. Since I got the withdrawal email, I have been researching online about my chances of being re-admitted but haven't been able to find anything satisfactory. I have decided to write an appeal but I have no idea where to start, and how can I possibly explain everything in a 250 word document. I have my official medical documents ready however UCSD states that I can't send them in unless asked. </p>
<p>I'm not looking for chances since I know that is on individual basis. Instead, any insights, help, experiences that anyone would share with me, and any guidance on my appeal letter would be greatly appreciated. After a disastrous year, I am more than ready to move ahead with my education. </p>
