i applied this year as aerospace engineering to those schools.
which school has good programs and oppotunities for my major?
any input from some1 who attends those schools?

I know UCSD’s mech/aero engineering is impacted and I know that there graduate and ph.d curriculum and courses are top notch. Not sure how UCLA does in the field tho.

According to USNews, UCSD engineering is ranked a littler higher than UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering (but these can be a bit bias). However, UCLA has prestige written all over it.

If I were accepted into both schools, I would make my decision based on which school gives me the most financial aid. If the aid is around the same, I’d go with UCLA (just too much of a recognized school to pass up and besides I’m pretty sure that they have more connections than UCSD would)

UCSD has some great connections as well. I know this is only annecdotal but my friend’s roommate got an internship with NASA due to the help of a professor.

Both are great schools and the differences between the engineering departments is most likely very small. I think your decision should be about whether you’d rather be in San Diego than West Los Angeles. I know a classmate who went to UCSD for Mechanical Engineering if I remember correctly, who unfortunately, flunked out before family problems. He said the time he spent there before dropping out was very enjoyable and could not wait to go back. Just a little anecdote for ya
