UCSD Appeals

Anyone heard from UCSD on their appeal? I got a letter in the mail that said they were going to try to make a decision by April 25th. Do you think they are waiting to see who declined their offers?

I checked the website and I got in :)

The basis of my appeal was how I was moving to Oregon and wasn't able to do much volunteering, as well as how my dad would stop me from doing it as well. I also spoke about how I got my first 4.0 in my Senior year. I had two recommendation letters. One from my AP Biology teacher who also spoke about my volunteer hours and my Yearbook advisor. I think what made my whole arguement valid was that I had documentation about how we had to move to Oregon.

I hope everyone else got in :)

Hi Sammie - I just checked the website and it says that I got in on appeal too. It also said that it is past the deadline to accept. WTH, I checked the site yesterday or the day before and the acceptance posting wasn't there. Do you have the same message? They have to give us more time to accept the offer.

Just curious, why do you want to go to UCSD so bad? I know I wanted to go really bad...that is until I visited the campus. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise? :)

I'm not sure if I'm going to accept UCSD but I want some time to think about it. I already SIR'd to Davis and think that I'll probably end up going there.

Yea, DAVIS is really awesome. Stayed there with my bro for a couple of days last year and it was really awesome! The UCD campus is really nice as well!

yeah, ucdavis is awesome, but academically, ucsd is much, much better.

qtpie - why do you say that UCSD is better? Are you going by the ranking in US News magazine?

I wouldn't go as far as that...UC's are all academically rigorous. UCSD just has ppl that study all day to throw off the curve! The diff. between SD and Davis is that in SD there is nothing to do BUT study. LOL

I'm pushed for UCSD because their biochem is much better compared to Davis (I SIR'd there too). But right now, I'm two sided between the two.

and to iluvmusak, I have the same message, so I'm planning to call them.

iluvmusak, i was referring to their nationally recognized and renowned science and engineering departments: biochem, biology, bioeng, and biomed. ucdavis is a fantastic school, strong especially in agriculture and science. i almost considered going there because they were giving me the regents and alumni. but in the end, ucsd seemed a better fit for me! i certainly have nothing against ucdavis...my father did his medical residency there! and i am even giving up a regents at ucberkeley, my mother's alma mater! the competition is too steep and stiff.

I called UCSD this morning. They just posted their appeal acceptances on the website yesterday and also mailed out acceptance letters. They are emailing people today. We have until Monday, May 9th to accept and have to confirm housing by May 13th. Sure doesn't give us much time. Out of 600+ appeals 90-100 got in. Good luck everyone!

that's a pretty high appeal acceptance rate.
