I just got rejected from UCI after the interview weekend. I was wondering if it's realistic to even hope for an invite on the waitlist. I know that UCI isn't Berkeley, so I'm assuming a good number of their admitted students don't end up going there, and I know that the admissions board takes that into account. I'm just a little disappointed since UCI is ideal for me (girlfriend in the area, decent program, good stipend, great PIs).

I was also wondering if anyone had any idea if UCSD Chem & Biochem program had its interview weekend yet. They seem to be kind of slow (or I'm just rejected)

hey, it's San Diego :) they're too busy lounging around in the sun and admiring the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the lab buildings just a quarter-mile away from the water. Just give them a call and see what's up regarding notifications and interview weekends -- they're super-nice people.

I found out on February 2nd that I got an interview at UCSD's Chemistry and Biochemistry program. The two interview dates are February 29th-March 1st and March 21st-March 22nd. Hope that helps.

Unless they changed it for this year, the UCSD Chem&Biochem folk admit you on the spot -- the visit is strictly for recruitment purposes ... instead of going through the stress of interviewing :)
