UCSD Class of 2017: Muir College

I will ask about this at Triton Day. I can’t imagine how awkward that would be and how cut off you would feel. I think my daughter would be devastated if this happened to her.

Just got back from Triton Day. They said they do sometimes have to put some people in Revelle and recommended you sign up for housing ASAP even if you haven’t decided on SD yet. All you have to do is click a button, you don’t even have to put down a deposit. If you choose not to go to SD, your registration will just be deleted so you have nothing to lose. They time stamp when you register so the last people registered for housing are the most likely to be put in Revelle.

The Muir triple room wasn’t as small as I expected. There are a few singles and doubles but they said that freshman should assume they are getting a triple.

My S is a freshman at Muir. He asked for a double and he has a double in a triple room. He has tons of space, met a lot of new friends and will rush in the spring. He is very social and found many friends who love to study hard and let off steam on Friday and Saturday. Sunday he really hits the books and he’s doing just fine.
He has friends at the other colleges who asked for doubles who were put in triples and a friend who asked for a double and was placed in a single.
So you just don’t know what you are going to get.

I got the impression that Muir really goes out of their way to get the students to interact with each other. My daughter has a friend in ERC who said she wishes they had done more. As far as the rooms go, the triples weren’t that bad so she will take what she gets although we will at least try for a double. Is your son running out of food money pretty quickly? The food prices seemed awfully high! I got this teeny little nothing sandwich and it cost 6.25 and it didn’t even come with anything. I don’t think my daughter will gain the freshman 15 because she won’t be able to afford it!

@Smother, feedback from my son, Muir has a lot of activities weekly. They also have excursions - whether it’s backpacking, camping or going to a club. They also have house competitions. (in the fall there was a house water polo competition and a dodge ball competition) Getting into Muir really sealed his decision on going to UCSD.
Yes! my son lost weight, he’s right on track to use all his dining dollars. We also send him care packages for late night studying. He did say that most girls have a lot of dining dollars left and are are trying to sell them because it’s a use it or lose it arrangement OR the boys somehow are at the right place at the right time and the girls will swipe them a meal or two. (ha ha, those boys!) Best of luck to your daughter, I hope she loves it! I know my son does!

Go Muir! I’ve been admitted to UCSD for Aerospace Engineering.

Hi guys, I’m a third year student from UCSD.

I don’t know if you guys have heard that we have a Chase branch right inside of the Price Center, which is inside of the heart of UCSD.
They also have 7 ATM machine on UCSD campus which no other banks do.
It’s really convenient to have an account with them no matter you wanna use it to pay for your tuition or just for saving some pocket money.

They are doing a special event for opening accounts next week. They will open for extra 1.5 hours from 6 - 7:30 pm from Monday to Thursday.

You can just make appointments online and go straight inside the branch.

THERE WILL BE NO WAIT LINE!!!

You can also go and just to get some information :D

Please feel free to check out the event page and comment for any question.
