UCSD Class of 2022

CSE I guess

Can we expect UCSD results to be out Monday? Or is it more likely to be out on the 16th?

I hope it comes on Monday, but I think it’ll come on 16th. Based on the discussion.

Post by @KidThatKares from another ucsd thread

"I am currently a student here at UCSD (no I am not a UCLA reject, I selected UCSD over both UCLA and USC). As the decisions are starting to roll in, I believe I must share this information:

Normally when universities accept students, they accept a number higher than the actual amount they want (ex. they want 6000 freshman so they accept 9000). They do this because some applicants get into their “dream schools”, so only a fraction of accepted applicants will actually attend. In this case, people tend to favor UCLA over UCSD.

Last year, we had hundreds of more incoming freshman than anticipated. As a result, we had students who had been selected for specific colleges (Muir in particular) that were forced to live in other colleges on campus in “overflow housing” (Revelle, Marshall, and Sixth).

This year, to prevent this from happening again and to compensate for last year’s influx, UCSD is only admitting people to capacity (ex. 6000 admits for 6000 spots). Since it is highly unlikely all of the spots will be filled, the wait list this year is going to be larger than it has ever been and there will be a great opportunity for those of you who are placed on the wait list to still make it in.

That being said, I wish you all luck! I know this can be a very tough time for many of you, but just know that although people like to throw big names around, college is only what you make of it. I promise you all will find your niche and you will have the time of your life."

Well this is concerning…

@vvth27 Please tell me this is a prank of some sorts

@MickeyJhawar @vvth27 I believe whoever wrote that was trying to mess around with everyone, they just joined the site to write that…also ucsd accepts around 30k assuming that 6k will actually be attending, so it’s highly unlikely that they will only accept 6k this year as that would make it way more selective than ucla and ucb which obviously does not make sense. I did the math and the acceptance rate would be around 7%, so don’t worry that person was just trying to cause trouble.

@MickeyJhawar Yeah now that I think about it this person is definitely messing with us. Thank for making me come to my senses lol.

They claim that they were informed of this by people on the Muir college council, and that they were advised by these people to inform people who may find this information useful. I doubt that is the case

If this were any true, SD would lose all its applicants because most students would’ve taken admission somewhere else and a lot of them cannot afford to pay enrolment fees twice

UCSD is building two new colleges into the campus soon. In a few years they will be accepting many more applicants.

@vvth27 yeah muir college council has nothing to do with admissions and is a student government org so pretty sure that post is bs

Rejected. Gpa 4.0

Decisions came out already!!!

no it hasn’t for me. But it may be because I’m international

No decisions aren’t out. They all come out at the same time

@Cantwaitdecision…Sick joke?..:slight_smile:

Did everyone CA instate receive in Jan 2018:
California Residency for Tuition Purposes - Short FormDisplay?.

My DD received it and we submitted.

Just checking if this any correlation to admissions.

@bsmddo yeah i also got it too, but i doubt it has any correlation to admissions

Can we expect UCSD decisions to be released tomorrow? (Monday) or is it going to end up being on the 16th?

I applied to UCSD for a joint major in economics and mathematics

My stats are as followed-
sat-1440
math 2 sat- 780
IB points- 40/45
Plus a ton of volunteering and internships and other extracurricular activities.

Are these stats competitive enough to get me in?
