UCSD Class of 2022

Like @SarcasticPanda said. Just believe it will be Friday and if it is tomorrow it’ll be a pleasant surprise

somebody on Reddit said that several people called the AOs and they were told that it’ll be out on the 20th?

@davy901 I saw a post saying that too. I really hope these posts aren’t true. I’m already disappointed that the offers didn’t come on the 9th, which was the day a lot of people predicted they would come. It’s going to be a lot of stress on me if I have to wait until the 20th.

I personally don’t think it’ll be the 20th, I could be wrong. But on Reddit, there was only one person who claimed that this was the case. :-? Either way, we’ll be fine. Good Luck to all of you!

@ucsdcscholar hey can you provide a source that confirms that calling campaign begins this week? I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find sources. I know you’re a part of it, but is there anything about it that we can see?

@jayjay7737 my mistake, someone posted an alumni calling campaign link that started 3/13/2017 and i forgot it’s 2018 now LOL. Looks like both the current student and alumni campaigns are starting 3/19 this year:

http://www.alumni.ucsd.edu/s/1170/index.aspx?sid=1170&gid=1&pgid=8107&cid=16386&ecid=16386&crid=0&calpgid=13&calcid=664

Personally I’m signed up to call 3/19 myself  Hope I call some of you in this thread!

@stressedbeluga those are my IB predicted grades.

What are My Chances?
I applied to UCSD for an Economics Major.
My stats are

sat-1290 (17 essay - 6/5/6)
IB predicted points- 37/45
volunteering and internships (Old age home, market research firm volunteering)
extracurricular activities (School soccer team)
Good essays
I know my chances are slim but are they competitive enough for even a small chance at UCSD?
(I got into UC Davis a few days ago for Economics)

@ucsdcscholar Wait, so if the alumni calling campaigns are starting on the 19th, does that mean our decisions would only come the Friday following the 19th?

@RejectsScholar1 you got into Davis with that SAT score while i got rejected with a 33?!

@jj1999 there are more things to a “holistic” application than a test score. @RejectsScholar1 said his essays were god. Maybe it made up for it.

@ucsdcscholar So is your post from a couple of days ago still valid?

“Alumni are calling beginning this week and student volunteers are calling beginning next week. Usually admission decisions come after student volunteers begin calling but in the past the alumni calling campaign happens after student volunteer campaign (which is the opposite this year).

So I’m not sure when admission decisions are going to be released during this time, but definitely after one of the campaigns begin.”

Shouldn’t the calling be during the whole week and not a single day? Maybe faculty/staff is calling this week for scholarships and etc, meaning admissions come out on Friday. Then students like you call on the 19th and on to congratulate us and convince us.

@ucsdcscholar Also adding to my post, the link you posted said

“Congratulate and welcome newly admitted students to UC San Diego! Help participate in the excitement by sharing your UC San Diego experience to give new students an idea of campus culture.”

It says “newly admitted” so doesn’t that mean we’ve already been accepted by then?

Guys I really hope ucsd will answer tonight!! I feel like they won’t accept me but let’s hope for the best!!

Btw is Biochem/chem not capped right? The biochem under bio is?

@jayjay7737 I was just under the impression that alumni campaign was earlier because of what someone else said in the thread. That post was more of speculation on my part. I’m not an AO, I don’t know everything, I’m just a student volunteer.

Calling campaign does go on the full week. Also I don’t think semantics matter in this case. The advertisements for student calling campaign last year used the same wording, and I called before decisions were out. You are right though. AO staff CAN call students this week. Gotta keep your eye on the thread if they do though. And they don’t have to finish the campaign before releasing decisions. Last year IIRC they released it Friday, on the last day of the calling campaign, before the set call time.

In either event, my word isn’t law. I can be proven wrong. You can try to persuade me that it will come sooner, but I am only using my own information to try and help you and the other users narrow it down. I do have more insider info about the process, after all.

Decisions will come out eventually anyway ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@davy901 IDK when they will release decisions. If they don’t release by the time I’m volunteering I can just ask an AO.

When I was filling out my UC application, I couldn’t click on certain majors. Does anyone know why?

@SmartGurl17 the same thing happened to me, it wouldn’t let me select certain majors and I still have no clue  at least the major I wanted was one of the majors that I could select, what about you?

@jj1999 Don’t worry, you’ll get into great places with a 33.
